Why would they when going down the straight, move to the middle of the track? wouldn't it be shorter/quicker to just stay on the outside of the main straight all the way?

I'm guessing they do it to stuff up the guy behind, give him a facefull of clean air so that he can't slipstream

Well its a right hander coming up so i guess if leader is mid track/slightly to right, the guy would have to slip stream up the inside to out brake leader and then be in a bad position to take the corner..

If leader stayed to the left the whole way then the guy can slip stram past on inside and coupd take the lead and have position for corner as well...

did that make sense lol
