That's it. I'm phoning Foxtel. As much as I hate paying for something I very rarely watch, I just can't stand missing out on WSBK. MotoGP will also be a bonus. As will all of the other motorsports.

That Spies is something else, hey. As much as I don't like Yanks, this guy can bloody ride. He has pole again at another place he hasn't been, pretty inpressive.

I agree. Apparently he had never ridden this track before, and after a couple of days, goes out and beats the track record. He's genius, I think.

Well there ya go, Ben hosed them in both races.
Looks like WSBK's are full of old men, has-beens and young guys who just can't cut it in MotoGP.
It's early days but it's really starting to look like he's going to win it this year.
Looks like he needs to go to MotoGP to really be tested.

Checa has to go he has done nothing since entering WSB & is taking up a spot some new young gun could have in a team who's bikes should be up the front. He only has the spot due to the sponsorship dollars he brings with him.
Fabrizio is another he might have 1-2 good races in the whole season.

It will be good racing from 2nd to 5th place for the whole season, but really no different to Bayliss being out in front everywhere and anywhere, some tracks will obviously make for more even racing but PI and Qatar would have to one some of the fastest tracks in season?
Next season will be better once Honda and Kawak bring their big/long bang engine into production.
Supersport is where its at this year.

That is the strange thing the yamaha isn't meant to have up top out put like say the Suzuki/Honda. The motor design is to make the motor more tractable over the rev range like the v twins with better torque. So you think it would have suffered on the fast tracks, I think it will be even more of a weapon on the slower tracks. But on saying that lets not discount the rider he is the one making the difference.

The engine was designed more to maintain grip on exit & to be kind to the rear tyre. It was always going to have good power in RACE form as it dosn't have to last that long. Its only in road form that they have to last. The use of the cross plane crank gives the engine the torque thats going to keep them selling as the H/P falls.

I think it's more the rider that's making the bike look so good. This guy hasn't even been to these tracks and he is handing them all their ass's, as the Yanks would put it.

I'd be surprised if some lucrative offers don't go Spies's way from MotoGP if the start of the WSBK season is anything to go on.. but I doubt it'd be a good career move - going from a category where you're constantly running at the front, to a mid pack wonder.
Some big assumptions in there, I agree.

He won't be going to any crappy Satellite teams, his mum will make sure of that. She is a pretty shrewd business woman and she has a product that will be in very hot demand.

Then I think his future with Yamaha might be short lived if he wants to go to MotoGP - I doubt they're going to move on Rossi/Lorenzo anytime soon - maybe with Rossi's departure there might be a good opportunity for him, but who knows when that'll be.

I guess the real answer will come when we see the OZ superbikes and the new R1 in Australia and other levels of racing around the globe to see how or if it dominates just as much.
Either or its good to see something giving a Ducati a better run for its money LOL:stirthepot:

Rossi has already said that if he keeps riding like this and wins this year then there'll be a spot for him on Rossi's team next year. 3 bikes? Or bye bye Lorenzo? This is put up or shut up this year for Jorge I rekon. LOL
Top end isn't everything when it comes to how fast you are down the straight. The sooner you are on the gas and the faster you accelerate will govern your speed down the straight, so whatever he lacks in top end h.p (not much I'd think anyway), he'd make up for in that respect.
Interesting to see how the R1's go in Oz supers next round coz they had nothin at the Island.

I heard that the yamy guys didn't qualify so they started at the rear or some sort of drama's at PI .The stauffer's and the aussie r1's have been on top for a long while have'nt they ? except for 08.

I think he may end up on Edwards Yam....perhaps sooner than later. He might want reassurance that Herve gets top kit from Yamaha though..
