To move away from Dilbee's thread perhaps we should move to this one.
Without prying to much I got to wondering how many people on a RATS group ride at least have third party insurance?
Lol, I'm not suggesting RATS cant ride to save their lives, just when 50+ bikes get together..... well the chances of :( increase.

always have full comp and why not when it only costs me about 300 bucks a year
have full comp on the 2 most used bikes and third party on the others
maybe a Poll might reflect the percentages

Full comp car and bike , have never taken the risk not to at least 3 party insure a vehicle i own. In my opinion if you drive a car or bike ,truck etc 3 party(property damage) should be compulsory.

got lots of fairings so dont need it
3rd party fire and theft.
All my premium quotes for FC were well over half my bikes value, then with excess of close to 2k it was almost like buying my bike twice a year if I had an accident.
So, I just got 3rd party property to cover my arse if I hit the Ferrari or whatever.

No insurance at all on the bikes.
Try finding anybody to insure somebody with my driving record riding a bike thats being
used as a courier vehicle. No chance. They laugh at me.
The best car at home has full comp and thats about it.
As far as running up the arse of something expensive is concerned, I have no intention of doing that.
In 22 years of riding uninsured bikes with almost no accidents including 10 years as a courier, I reckon Im ahead financially. If I was to lose 5 grand in an accident now I'd still be ahead. The premiums for me are simply not realistic so i don't bother with insurance at all and pay for any damage I cause along the way. (rare)
The Mrs dropped the SV at a roundabout while it was fully insured (under finance) and we ended up making about $1500 out of it. The insurance company paid us to replace
the muffler which just had a tiny scratch on it so we left it on the bike and pocketed the $. 3 grand damage and half of it was the muffler which polished up fine!

Fully comp for me. Birdman, can you please explain to me how you get full comp for 300 bucks a year?
I would say as a part of his business insurance , when i owned my business many years back i had 7 utes insured threw my company and with that gio looked after me with a good discount on my two private vehicles.
The best insurance is prevention !
Been riding & driving for over 25years & to date have not hit anything, well other vehicles anyway...:ayyy:

Fark, you are, I pay almost that for 1 year mate. And I just got a quote through ebike, they wanted 1400 bucks. This is for an 02 R1, 33 year old rider, no incidents in the last 5 years, no speeding fines in the last 5 years, and 15 years of riding experience. How does that work? Maybe I should buy a postie bike.
Full comp for me, heaps cheaper then the insurance I used to have on the cars, the cars were like 2200 each and the bike is 550.
After I took a big hit on one car due to lack of insurance I learnt my lesson and all my shit is insured.

I pay $452 for my bike & another $452 for 1 of my cars... the company I work for has a fair few people in it & we do a deal with an insurance broker for a collective policy.
Collective as in there is roughly 800 people in it.
Its been this way for many years & other places Ive worked offer the same deal.
It was $480 last year from memory.
What about yours Jarrad .. lol, how much, if any at all, do you have?

Third Party and Theft. Theft is a fucking grand though. For some reason Botany is more of an insurance risk than Alexandria.
Also:
As far as running up the arse of something expensive is concerned, I have no intention of doing that.

Buggering hell. I was complaining about $540 fully comp... Think I'll just be happy that is all I'm paying. 600's the way to go. More than enough on track & road and easy to insure.
