A certain person we know who goes by the go show or AKA AG23 has a nice little write up on page 100 about mind over matter.

Worth the read, especially if you do track days. Make me realise why I am so inept. I am happy if I have half the track sorted with braking markers and tip in points.

I do try an visualise the track but without knowing every bump and twist and memorising every little detail I now know why I am not a GP racer.

Nice work Alex.

I read it.. I agree with everything, thinking through the reference points for braking, accelerating, and where the bumps through T1 make me feel like I'm losing the front..

While Alex raises some valid points, I always find myself chatting with other RATS about menial stuff, like bikes, tyres, steering dampers and the like, and enjoying the bike related banter.. I'm sure that if I focussed more, I could realise a few seconds on a lap.

But although times mean a bit to me, the whole social aspect of the day prohibits me from completely closing away and focussing on the various elements of the laps I completed.. and I'm happy with that, Turning a few laps, and trying to improve plus socialising is the best part of a track day with RATS and I'll continue to do that until I start racing :D
