I have had this idea for awhile and was wondering if anyone has done this and what is involved, any suggestion appreciated.
The idea - get a sports bike 750 or 600 that is a repairable write off and convert it to a naked. Thus put something like renthal bars on for a comfortable riding position. This way I get the sports bike handling and motor with the naked riding position.
I imagine all the cables (break, clutch, accelerator etc) will be too short. Any idea on the cost of replacement?
Any ideas on who to talk to would be appreciated.
Only having track bike is killing me and I need to sort something.

why not just get a naked and pimp that out lot less pipes and oil lines cables stuff to worrie about
naked = not too bad looking motor ,internal oil lines coolant pipes casting better
faired bike = motor not too good to look at, external oil lines cooling no bling bits for motor
if your going for the striped down look you have to hide all that stuff more $$$$

My old man's got a YZF1000 thats had the fighter thing done. Its as ugly as sin with shit hanging every where. But & a Big but its a hoot to ride. I can't stay off he thing. you forget how heavy the YZF is pulling monos at will but soon remembur when you have to stop the big thing.
Yes you can buy a factory fighter but building your own would mean that you have the only one.

Some of the naked bikes are just dumbed down sports bikes anyway, you could always just look around for unusual mods and turn most nakeds into a weapon. Take a look here to see what I mean.

etc etc. Put a good full system n it, get it mapped have the suspension done and you've got a pretty unique weapon.

Clutch, brake lines etc should still reach with differnt bars, if not, then clutch cables can be had from ^$20, front brake lines the same, from wreckers.
Headlight would have to be changed, and replaced with a street fighter one, these around the $100 mark new, there are more expensive ones, but really are the same just with better graffics.
All lines, wiring harness etc, cable tied out of sight, Coolant bottle and anything else hidden.
Seat ducktail may need replacing or modifying as most sportsbikes ones have lines which match lower fairings, some just retro fit an entire new modified subframe ( angled to be raised at rear), with ducktail fairings modified to suit.
Mirrors to be fitted to bars, indicators to front end, there will be no fairings etc for these to go on, so imagination wins.
The rest is all bling work, polished, anadosized, bling bits, nice paint work.
Would be much more rewarding to do a RWO sportsbike, than a naked, as end result on a naked is nothing but a blinged up naked, a sportsbike turned street fighter will always be more unique..
Enjoy :ayyy:

Yeah a lot of people do that...there's places on the net where you can tell them type of bike and the length you want them...

www.streetfighters.com.au and www.ausfr.com.au are your friends. You can pick up ABM Comfort Kits will have everything incl. longer clutch and braided HEL lines if you need them (you will need the brake lines.) I'll hopefully be getting the parts and starting on mine next week (finally), although I'm not doing it to a wreck.
Oh, and HEL are really good with custom lines, I got a custom set for my old fighter overnight from them.
