Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone knows what times people have gotten on small roadbikes (not GP bikes) at the track. I know good times depend on who's riding and what's good varies for each person but does anyone know what times a VTR250 or CBR250RR are capable of on the track? What's the best you've heard of?

Dee

I've always heard of ppl doing mid to high 50s on their 250RR... Don't how true or possible that is. Another guy told me some racers would do high 40s but I'd call BS on that till I see it.:confused1:

one of my mates ran 2.10 on a cbr-r first time on the track.

lapped on a mates stock 250rr a few years ago and managed a late 1.57 at best

dunno if that's respectable or not....

There was another fella (Shaun) who was consistently rounding in mid to late 1.55 although he'd throw it down every 2nd lap

I don't like 250's

specially when they go under me in a corner and I have my blade as far over as I can get it......

Seriously though I'd love to have a go on one

Damn - I was only 13-15 seconds of that time on my (ex)CBR250RR :hatter:
Best ever was a 2:08. Although I'm sure Oggy got my old bike round EC in sub 2 mins

2:15 and under on a 250 is quick..

Interesting, I was told that I took 5 seconds off my time from the VTR250 when i rode the Cibby without really pushing it... funny the difference you can get from a different bike

Johnny

Yes, CBR is a faired bike that gets speeds of 175 ?, Vtr naked bike that gets speeds of 150 ?..

Well done Dee

Was wondering why I never saw you out there on Saturday, probably cause I was looking for the wrong bike :lmao:

Isn't the VTR a twin and the cibby a four screamer? that can also impact in your lap time as at that level any extra hp helps.:ayyy:

Yeah matey... Sarah and Craig let me take out the baby blade for the day... tell ya what tho... wouldn't mind having it out there for a play on a hotter day, or even just when there's no rain... I could have a lot of fun on that bike :dancesmiley:

Yes it is, but I've only been riding just over a year and haven't really had a i4 on the track before... so it kinda amazed me the extra difference without feeling like i was pushing it harder

they sure are.....are RR would smoke the VTR. In the right hands and with some fettling they can be reasoonably quick and any little bikes are a hoot anyways.,......, sometimes more fun than a larger bike :) Get it in the right gear, keep it pinned, never use brakes (well... . ) and frenzied gear changes...really makes you feel like you're 'riding' it but get it bogged down in wrong gears everywhere and it'll feel like a wet week......

Makes you wonder why some choose to ride a bigger bike, hey?! Including myself...
If I had any sense of decency I'd just buy a 250RR trackie and be done with it. Thank God I don't...:lmao:

I was cutting 1min 48's on a stock RGV 250 track bike

When they started racing CBR 250 there were guys out on the ride days who were cutting the same time - they had some work done - jet kit, filter and race system

And they are a tonne of fun!!!

Pretty big difference in specs between a VTR and a CBR.

I think the VTR's max out at around 150 and are 30 odd HP. Where a CBR would see close to 200 unrestricted, putting out around 40-45 HP. Mine ever only got to 180, but it was restricted, not tuned and carrying my fat arse around.

James

I reckon closer to 190kph at 17,000 rpm 6th gear 200m marker -but mine was a bit lighter than std and was dyno'd at 43 hp. The definition of depression: following a 1098 out of T12 on a CBR250RR :(

I'm sure that some would say that definition of happiness would be cutting the same bike on the inside of T2!:)

The definition of depression: following a 1098 out of T12 on a CBR250RR :(

The most fun I had on the CBR was taking people up the inside of T12 to be blasted away by several bikes down the straight, then undertake a couple on T1 then going on to out brake the others at T2.

I still miss my Cibby :(

I took my NSR250 (2-stroke) out in B1 on Saturday (first session) and I felt totally comfortable with the relative speed of the bike in the group. It performed really good in the tighter back section of the track where it's weight and cornering ability are a distinct advantage over the larger bikes.
I can't really judge what my lap times were (something over 2mins) and using the first session to compare it to other bikes isn't that accurate a measure. All up I would say this bike can do way better than I am capable of and in the right hands it would not disappoint in B1 or even A group.

The only thing I can add is that the 250 2-stroke offers a huge ability to modifiy and performance enhance. http://www.nsr-world.com (http://www.nsr-world.com/tuning/250-tuning/ignition/) shows how figures like +60hp can be achieved with race expansion chambers, airbox mods and careful jetting. You can even buy a 300 big bore kit from tyga and push this further.

Yes I'm talking up this bike and yes it is for sale here (http://www.nswroadandtrackbikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9572)

After 4 months riding, i was doin 2:15s first time out at the creek, on a cbr250r with mismatched tyres and it wasn't tip top mechanically. Blaringmikes cbr was a bit more track suited and he was def quicker then me. Have seen cbr250rrs in B1 goin resonably well in that group. Can't wait to get the ZX7r out there and a few more track days. Blackstorm ur right its depressing on the straight watching the bigger bikes but god is it fun owning them in the corners :ayyy:

So I take it I'm the only one taking a VTR250 to the track then :( It's the bike I ride more often cause it's mine. The cibby I only got timed one session and I was doing 2.07-08 on it. That's 5-6 secs faster than i was told I did on the VTR. Was hoping to figure out what i could get IT down to, cause I have to ride it a bit longer before I can afford a bigger bike... Maybe I should get one of the boys to take it out one session and see what it can do... can't imagine any of them would be excited by the prospect tho when they could be riding their 600's/1000's :p Would love an R6 when I upgrade tho it seems a little way off :p

That's quite fast if accurate. A bloke I know races a basically stock ZXR250 (pretty much the Kwakka version of the CBR) and you are faster than his fastest lap from each race.

His lap times from races are up on the Natsoft website, which means they're accurate because they've been professionally timed etc. PM me if you want to know his name so you can have a look at them.

I run just on or just under the 2 minute mark on my Aprilia RS250 at EC, the little bugger does well with my 6'-5" tall - 100kg body on it.

The Aprilia cup guys did mid 1-40's on the same bike.

Cheers johnny:ayyy:

Dee just go out there and rip shit up!!!

for me it not about times, its about trying to get 2 or three corners flowing nicely together then another and another every other session soon after a few T.D's i will get a flowing lap,

its about overtaking round the outside of turn 2,sucessfully, its about getting over T9 heebeegeebees, just once a session!!

and soon after that the little lightbulb comes on and it all makes sense!!!

during all of this times will fall... worry about all other aspects and times are not so important!!

remember we are not racers, we're riders going fast:ayyy: see ya 29/3

True, but you still know the times you are doing... so altho it's about having fun, there's still the element of wanting to know where you are in comparison to what's possible ;)

Anyone who has seen me at the track knows I have a great time out there my face is :D :D :D :D all day, was still just curious to know what's possible tho ;)
