I like them too :) I do recall a few posts on them, they might give you an idea of people's thoughts (as you ask). Try a search under 'shiver'.
If you're really serious, find an Aprilia forum, they usually know a lot more about them and are critical if they need to be.

he wants $6.500 for the one at motorcycle disposal . it has a slighty bent subframe .
Mr Bones

The Shiver is great bike, the motor is an absolute ripper. Only problem I had with it was a slightly heavy clutch. Gearbox was a touch stiff, but the one I rode only had 500km on it.

I hear that they are a little low on power :confused1:

I didn't notice. It just absolutely hammers. Should be easy to get more power as well, I was constantly belting it off the limiter because it wasn't letting off up high.

I simply wouldn't buy Aprilia anything due to reliability & parts availability, they haven't gone into receivership a few times because there product sells well.
I base this solely on friends bikes that have had never ending engine problems, maybe they got lemons but it's enough to stop me ever buying one.
Also hope there warranty service has picked up, friend new RSV warped front rotors & they wouldn't replace them until he sent a letter to the factory who told AUS importer to replace them, bike had stuff all kms on the clock & only few months old.

i did look at these recently during my search.
I scraped it for the following:
* $$ to much 15K plus onc (rrp) - figured paying for Aprilia name, and could not see the value for money.
* For a hybrid motard'y sort of thing to heavy 189kg's I was trying for less weight.
* the suspension appeared to be low tech / budget orientated, with non adjustable forks (so unless spot on more $$'s needed) and shock only preload and reb
* Fuel tank size little small for my liking
However I did not actually ride 1 so no impressions on that side. But I do love the style of it - looks fantastic imo.

Took one for a spin this morning & they only let me ride it around the F*#king block.
seriously about three K's. Afterwards they wanted to know what I had to trade in & I said A longer ride would be good?
Got told all there test rides are only that circuit. I said well I'd want a longer test ride before I fork over cash for a new bike!
It felt ok but didn't really get to try it. Hopefully will test one in Syd on Friday.
Sounds ok with the stock pipes on it to.

+1 mate, what's with the 'round the block' test ride? that's bullshit, that's what it is.
Where did you go?

I can understand it if secondhand bike they have & don't wish to rack up the kms for resale, but if demo there supplied by factory dealers don't pay for them so why would it matter.

Micton (Michael) who's on this forum bought a Shiver 750 brand new October 2008. It was a nugget. I kept ripping it on take off with my CBF250. NuTter also rode it on one of the TNR and confirmed it was a nugget.
He then sold it 6 weeks later. The buyer rang a few days later and asked if it had been detuned or re-mapped.
Another clear indication that it was a nugget.

Thanks Antonella I'll seriously have to look at it. It didn't really impress me much for power but then again I didn't really get to use any power. I'll defiantly be lookiong else where though.
I went to the Suzuki dealer in Newcastle.

Maybe that's why they'll only allow it around the block... any further and no one would buy it!

All the dealers in Newcastle are shit except Kawasaki. Especially Suzuki.
Weird thought, I rung Boyds a month back and they said they weren't dealing Aprilia anymore?

Hold off for a while and let the over inflated asking price for one of these (http://hondampe.com.au/repository/motorcycles/products/road/naked/CB1000R-09/introduction.aspx) to drop, Bones!!! :D
Wait till the end of the finacial year and I bet my left nut you will be able to pick one up for around the same money as the Shiver by then.
Honda must be dreaming if they think people will pay the equivalent of a Blade.
Sell the Gixxer mate and get what you can for it, you'll get nothing for trade.
Theres no other naked option!!!!!
