Vietnam's great, nice places, nice people and cheap. We did an overnight trip to HaLong Bay with 2 lunches, dinner and breakfast, room with A/C, boat trip, cave entry and bus there and back from HaNoi for $26 each!

My mrs is Vietnamese and I have riden scooters through Saigon, fukin awesome experience, you just wade into a sea of bikes coming from your side, and they just pick a line and stay with it, all you have to do is hold your speed and commit. Plenty of stacks though, was always seeing a front end loader with a scooter in the front and rider on top getting taken home. Hahahaa

The mountains are awesome, but fuk me if you wouldn't die on a bike up there. We went a few hours out to Da Lat, (far enough out that I had crowds following me around to watch me try on shoes etc) and these freaks were over taking other trucks etc around blind corners, wrong side of the road, if you were on a bike, it'd be "OK, off the side, or into the bus?" fuk that.

It'd be freakin sweet, but I'd be real careful going up windy roads in the mountains, coz in the blink of an eye, a bus will over take a small truck around a left hand corner and you'll be facing both of them. LOL

I did Thailand in a passenger seat and that was an eye opening experience, especially on mountain roads like birdman mentioned. Lots of close calls.

dunno about China, Thailand is way more civilised I rekon that Vietnam. Thailand just didn't seem to have that sea of f'kin people swarming around you like bee's as you ride through them. LOL But you'll love it, I did, you reaslise for all of about 5min why they drive the way they do here, then you don't care any more and just want them taken off the roads forever. haha You have to go with one or the other, total chaos, or organised system, you can't mix the two.
