TAKE CARE ON RICHMOND ROADS THAT HAVE BEEN RESURFACED!!!!

Hi guys i live in richmond and just thought i should let everyone know

Hawksbury Council is in the process of re-taring some of richmonds roads however it is using the most useless method possible

they put the tar base down then simply pour the gravel/blue metal over the top, push it down and done..........

BUT, your are left with about 3-4mm of gravel all over the road which they don't clean up.
they did my street and after calling them to query how safe it was for bikes i was told it was safe for cars and it was my choice to ride a motorcycle!! when i asked for his personal name and contact so i could send any repair bill his way he agreed to get a street sweeper to come by. but thats it!!!

they have now done more streets and its as slippery as all hell so please be careful guys and if you've got a spare 5mins give hawksbury council a call and let them know how you feel.

cheers daniel

HANG ON A SEC!! That's just been done to the road near my house and I figured they were only half finished!!! GTFOOH!!

If that is what they are doing, they can get lost! I have to slow down to crawl speed to get around the corner because of all the loose gravel.

Time for a stern note methinks!

What if this is the new way of fixing roads and it is all over NSW and ACT? There will be nowhere safe to ride because you don't know you are going to hit this stuff until you are half-way through a corner. Keep an eye out, let's see how wide-spread it is.

no get acurrent affair on to it nothing get done faster than when the tv gets involved ....
it use to be. that a street sweeper cleans the extra stones. a few days after its done .
also it only lasts a few years before ya get car wheel tracks . like a dirt road and they gotta do it again... the stuff is crap

They won't give a flying fuk. The ONLY reason they do it is to spend the money they are given each year. Councils work on a budget and if they don't spend their allocation for a given year, they don't get the same amount next year....... how the fuk that works is beyond me, makes for senseless waste of shit like this. After 6 months or so depending on how busy the street is, it'll pack down to "rideable" and so they couldn't give a toss. If they actually wanted to repair the road they'd do it properly, but they don't, they're just spending money. When you combine that with the post above, they need to do it again later, spending more money, hence why in a street nobody generally cares about, they don't either coz it's just setting themselves up for future spending.

you know what shits me with councils when they do roads too. Here in Penrith they do some quiet street that dont get much traffic and these streets seem to fine b4 and now have a even better surface. But yet on the main roads that are shocking and yet nothing is done.:cursing:
I found out something today with loads that we have comaped to the US. The US have a load of 18tonne while our trucks carry between 24 - 26 tonne.
Our govts are just fucked in the head...:cursing::cursing::cursing:

Old rd was done in the same fashion 4 odd yrs ago. It caused many accidents, some fatalities even, but they fixed it, they dropped the speed limit to 60, that didnt work either, but made them enough money to start fixing sections of it properly, years later ofcourse :lmao:

its the same down here in the Shoalhaven, council 'patch repairs' corners and leaves sh$t everywhere. Love putting the 4 million signs up and the 40kph signs then sit around ontheir fat f*&king ass' whilst holding up traffic. Cant wait for the ICAC to go through em like a dose of salts... sack the F*^kn lot em. :storm:

The road coming up out of wisemans was done like that before Christmas. One week I ride through there and it is dirt, with short notice. The next week, the dirt rd sign is gone, and there is loose gravel everywhere. My missus drove through there on the way to the rats xmas party, and some guy in a car had just had a massive prang cause he lost control on the loose stuff, doesn't just affect bikes....

Same council too...
