With all this crappy weather we've been having lately (which is due to continue into next month i'm told), i've been looking at investing in some wet weather gear. Just wondering who's got what and what should or shouldn't i get?

Cheapest Dririder 2 pc extra large so it goes over jacket and pants.Small to store away, ezy to get on , can wear the pants for a wind brake on cold mornings riding to work, can walk around off the bike with just the jacket on . 1pc suits always go in the crotch because of the pulling you have to do getting them on. With years of riding I find this is the best way to go over all.

Yes if it pisses down you have to get the neck tight and damp can start drawing up the arms. But plastic is waterproof.+ over boots, to put them on ezy put plastic bags over your boots first.

for pants i highly recoment some HI-VIS work ware wet wether gear.
very easy to get over the pants you have on, very water proof, very good for visibality (a big bonus if its raining) and you can pick them up for about $30 at any safety shop.
I use leftover news papers to and from work.....got a rep to keep up:beer:

I have dririder long jacket, and rjays wet weather pants. They work OK, but if you're out long enough, say over 1 hr it just gets everywhere; I even tried wearing my sailing wet weather gear (and sailing stuff is usually pretty good) over the top of the wet weather gear but in a decent downpour even that makes little difference.

On the way back from MotoGP this year, I went into a servo and got a rubbish bag. Popped two holes for the arms and one for the head :ayyy:

Are those over-jackets & pants any good? I was leaning more towards getting a proper waterproof jacket/pants/gloves etc.
Wouldn't be riding in the rain for more than an hour at a time. Mainly commuting and short trips. Just wanna be warm while i'm riding and dry when i get to wherever the hell i'm goin.

Dri-rider 1 piece does the job great with only my boots getting wet.

If you want new jacket and pants consider the tiger angel Guardian 2 piece Suit that has a goretex removable liner.
I have this same suit and I have ridden for hours in light rain without the goretex as the suit repels water itself. It's deer hide treated with a waterproofing agent that can be reapplied annually. I use the liner when its really cold and requires minimal layers underneath as it stops the wind also. I've had mine for 6 years and is still in great condition.

There's no such thing as waterproof riding gear!
I commute to work everyday (110km) on the bike when i'm in the country and so I get to experience all sorts of weather (like today). I've tried nearly every brand's 'waterproof' products and they're all full of crap - water gets in no matter what the cost is.
Out of the best products that i've used so far, my Teknic jacket and Garne boots let in the least amount of water.

+1 except Alex only gets wet because he is to lazy to swerve between the rain drops.
Nothing keeps you dry completely there are only levels of dry & that also depends on the amount or rain, distance traveled factor. The main reason for wets is to keep wind chill down once you are wet.

I disagree. I've never had water get in my suit and I have ridden for hours at a time in the rain. Even my Astar boots with goretex have kept me dry.The only piece of my gear that consistently fails are gloves.
You want cheap hi vis rain gear, make friends with a postie as theirs are goretex in yellow. I wear these on my dirt bike when I get caught out in the bush.

What gloves do u use?, get the Spidi H2O gloves mine never leak, but when its heavy rain or stuck in the rain for a long trip, i pull my jacket over my gloves so no rain runs down your sleeve into your dry gloves.
I take this as a given that most know, but no one has mentioned it in this thread that i saw.
W/proof jacket i use a Clover touring jacket about 7 years old and still does the job.

I'll check them out Thanks. My jacket pulls down over my gloves anyway as it's a touring jacket.

True, though id never own a one piece again, get a 2piece dri rider set, roll em up easier and the jacket covers more , One piece to hard to get on , esp over leather jackets and always leak crutch first :cursing::cursing:
After the f3 every day for 12 months the closests i ever get to dry is my sidis and the dri rider 2 piece, i carry two sets of gloves , (One for each way 70 km ) I know travel to the city each day from Pennant Hills and havent got particullarily wet as yet

Were they the plastic raincoat ones Turtle? Or the ones made of that same stuff as their other jackets? Ours are the plastic type and really havent let us down in shit weather, except as Mozzie said seepage up the arms and sometimes down the neck if you dont have it snug.
I even put it over my proper dririder jacket cause that other stuff does get wet and heavy.

They are like raincoat material.......sort of nylon...with the seals on the seams and a thin lining inside ????
