Yea I have bought some from ebay for $700.00 landed here in corona colours and they fit very well. I fitted to the bike when I first got them to make sure I would use them and I am very happy. Took them to the painters with my tank to show him and he was impressed. Said he couldn't paint them for that price.

Check out http://stores.shop.ebay.com.au/auctmarts1__W0QQ_armrsZ1 . They are the sellers and makers in hong kong. When I ordered, it took two weeks to get them as they make and paint on order.

There are plenty of sellers out there putting there margin on, so see who manufactures.

Have streetglass got them in stock and do they offer a fitting service? Make sure there is clear coat over the stickers.

I will be posting pics of my bike soon as it's nearly finished.

Hope this helps.

I know 2 guys that have recently fitted them to their bikes.

A guy with an Sp2 said he had some dramas fitting but it looks awesome now it is all done

Another guy i went for a ride with Wednesday night has fitted a set to his 05(ish) blade and also had some dramas fitting mainly due to the holes not being drilled big enough.

The finish on these fairing really surprised me they are that good you really have to look hard to see that they are not OEM.

Why people complain I have no idea for that kind of money with paint job and stickers is beyond any small imperfections

Take your time when installing them and it will be sweet

I've been tempted for a while to get a set of aftermarket fairings. I've had my eye on those auctmarts blokes too.

While investigating their quality I've heard accounts of the fairing not fitting properly and requiring new holes, cuts or modifications. I've heard of fairings that melt near the engine and exhaust. I've also heard of the nose cone cracking where it's bolted to the brackets.

The pictures they post of their fairings look nice, but so do the burgers on the McDonalds menu and we all know what a soggy greasy cheeseburger looks like when it's in your hand.

$700 for something you're not entirely happy with seems like a waste of money.

just check there feedback on

That makes sense but isn't terribly accurate. I actually went through a series of buyers feedback from auctmarts a year or two ago and asked them what the fairing was like. Fitment, quality etc. I tried to pick people who had the same model bike as me.

Overall most of them had left feedback before they'd tried to fit the fairing, some were still in the fitment process and some hadn't even received the bloody things.. but they'd already left feedback.

If some of you blokes get them and fit them please post up the pics, otherwise I'll be sceptical and will stick to OEM stuff.

in my experience they're value for money in comparison to OEM prices

Oggy's 1000rr and my 600rr both wrapped in AM fairings below. The main difference noticed between them & OEM is by paint colours/shades which may differ... stickers are almost identical, positioned & lined up fine.

it really comes down to your opinion and how fussy you are... as long as they fit, work and look as they should... what's the diff?

I bought a set from Auctmart1 a while ago. Quality on paint was not tooo bad but showed signs of over appication with hints of sags, but no runs ,when checking up close(passable in my eyes and I demand perfection in my paint work). The fittings for lights is what lets them down. They are plastic welded dowels that don't take much to snap off. I had 3 snap off and no I did not over tighten. Some were welded on the wrong angle and when I screwed in the the lights the offset force broke them free before tightening was completed. I now use it for my track fairing. You get what you pay for . It depents on what is ok for you. Fiberglass is better I recon. Easy to fix. My 2c only.

Anyone know of a fibreglass fairing supplier in Oz?

you'll mostly find 'raceglass' in the way of fibreglass material

there was a mob in the US that FG'd factory fairings (will look for link)

i have in the past, made a template off oem fairs and cut headlight areas into raceglass... then you've got a choice of light fittings from oem to single enduro style... then paint'm :)

That's my train of thought. A set of raceglass with appropriate holes cut would compete in price wouldn't it?

Nice pics. How did you construct and fix the headlamp mounting points? Hot glue?

well typically raceglass will range from $350 used to $900 new depending on model. ABS fairs are around the $800 mark

that model R1 (01) the headlight is mounted & supported by the fairing stay. I'm sure you could mount most other models in the same way. I know with newer CBR's the headlight is mounted in the upper fairing.... maybe glass some tabs into the fairings or choose a different style light.

I was going to cut down, modify and fit a proj beam (busa/04r1/etc) or import an enduro light kit sold in the UK.

search the net and you'll find plenty of examples.

saf

Too easy. I'm working on a 400 at the moment and was contemplating using the raceglass with custom headlight. Problem is the missus wants something symmetrical and similar to the original twin circle lights where I'm leaning towards a one sided light of various shapes. It's for her to ride though 'cause she's a short arse so I guess ultimately it's her choice.

Are there any good or reliable makers you could hook a brutha up?

HYPE
14-02-2009, 11:23 PM
i'll see if i can find the link for the sealed beam enduro light on monday (on work pc)

alternatively have a look around at different models and see what you might be able to work with... then look at the wreckers (Metros @ silverwater have a wall full of them, and some busted half cut units too)

or....
