i have matched phone and downloaded all the stuff.
question. i have the 818 switched on to 5 hz setting, the manual talks of an extreme setting that i need to download a driver to my pc and change the settings to a baud rate of 115200. Is this necessary, and wtf is a baud rate.
have searched archives but could not find much.

I'd stick to the standard settings... chances are they are all you need and then some. I'd also remove that cone, but then again I wouldn't have placed it there for starters...:lmao::lmao:

1hZ is the base setting, I think 5hZ is the extreme setting. If you have it set on 5hZ then that's all you need for racechrono.

From http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=reviews&id=1081

"It is also possible to adjust the GPS update rate from the default 1 Hz to 5 Hz. QSTARZ markets this feature for sporting applications or other situations where faster position updates are required. (This is what makes the GPS "eXtreme".)"

Baud rate can be changed Via the RC settings menu. The Qstar is packaged with a default setting of 1Mhz so in order to get the full benefit you crank it right up to 5Mhz or 115200 :ayyy:

there is probably an application to use the GPS device on the laptop if you weren't already using RC so that's what they mean about the PC potentially needing drivers to run the apps/data

the 818 has a switch on the side... off, nav (which i think is 1hz) and 5 hz.
so it is switched to 5hz i believe maybe the other method is the extreme extreme

Hmm...not on mine but you still need to configure or change the baud rate in RC to match it.

Mine has "OFF" "NAV" and "USB". I set the 5hz when it was hooked up to the PC.

Baud rate can be changed on the phone in RC settings
