Like the new pipes but can't help thinking they'd look 100% better if the end caps sloped away from the tail light (swap which side the pipes are on in the video) rather than into it.....give the arse a far sharper look then!

THem times are not official times, closest to official is the promo vid on mcn site, which is 1.36s iirc. Besides that, those who did them times, could do it on just about any bike, so really, means shit.

Turtle, despite riding a bike which has been hit with the ugly stick, head on, lol :stirthepot:, has a very valid point, the hype this R1 is getting is amazing, and like I said in other thread, I never thought I'd be sick to death of abike I have barely seen with the amount of talk its getting.
I hate yamaha, it lost its appeal to the squid market when the K5/K6 gix come out, and every moron who had been riding for all of 5 minutes went for the gix, now, Yamaha will win back the R1 squid market it lost to the Gix :lmao:

Hey Johnny - i agree the bike isnt a patch on the 07-08 regarding looks but I could grow to like it (due to the sound this thing puts out) but I have missed out on buying great bikes by being turned off by some other dickheads buying them up. I hear ya. I just think it would be different to ride and pretty exciting. I think the tail and seat are way too fat/wide but still.....

Looks boxy from side on, but I like it, I like the blade too, and the blade with a pipe sounds freakin awesome, like a GP bike, more the 990 than the 800 though..........I should be doing one of these for Yamaha shortly, lookin forward to it. As for the system, I'd rather them go with a more conventional look with the mufflers instead of takin the piss our of the stockers so to speak. But I'd have that Akra system over a Yosh any day of the week. Wouldn't put a Yosh pipe on my lawnmower let alone my bike. LOL (well, the Jap ones are good, yank ones suck balls)

I personally like the look of the new Blade and it's one reason why I own one. I don't like the look of the 09 R1 (i'd buy another Ducati before I get one of these) however performance-wise, all of these bikes are WAY more than we ever need or can use.

In regard to the Ducati over Jap bike - wholly disagree sorry to sound presumptious but both you and me have had some real bad experiences with Dukes. When I got knocked off my zx10 on the ANZAC bridge I reckon I slid for probably 30 metres with the bike - picked it up started up first go went straight up the Old Rd with RAY and MARKY. And Ray is spot on about the Honda build quality its rock solid. Although the damage was cosmetic, this is a testament that these bikes are pretty robust. If that would have happened with the 999 i had I would have been stuck there on the ANZAC,and then arse raped over spare parts. Still think the 1198 would be a beast and looks the goods. the 848 gorgeous, the new KTM as Captain highlighted earlier looks great and dont mind the look of the blade in the flesh but I just love revving up RAY even though he's a top bloke.

the times i quoted i got straight from one of the factory riders so i would call them pretty official, wouldnt you?

as for saying that the riders could do those times on just about any bike is silly.. 1:31's was last years race pace at EC on a full prepped race bike. so i would say a stock bike with slicks being able to do the same is saying something. sure not all of us will ever reach those times but sure as hell says a lot about the potential of the bike

How so? Never quite got that "X pipe makes the best for this bike, Y for that bike".......if you can make a pipe work on one IL4 you can make them for another. Specialising is more marketing than "good". Look at Erion, they were never the best for Honda, but they ONLY made them for Honda

Reason I said that it's cause I read somewhere that they have a "partnership" with Yamaha like Yoshi has with Suzuki... Then again, I shouldn't believe everything I read (especially on the internet!)
