This is the series that replaces the 250cc.

The motor is the same as in the CBR600RR (well, more or less) :ayyy:

Say what you will, but this can't be too bad for the development of the 600cc class of machines :)

I feel like the difference in a 600 and 800 wont b much and possibly equal times at some tracks, seems wrong

Nah i dont think so.

the 600 machines are road going engines, they are going to allow very little in the way of engine mods, to keep costs down

the 800, at least for the time being, are full prototype machines, and have almost twice as much powers, and prob more

+1. There are so many things that are not allowed in the engine (and brakes, wheels, etc...) that it makes my head spin... from materials to the number of cylinders it's all there!!!:rules:

I'd say they would be about the same as the current 2fity's may be a bit faster but not much.

we should organise a poll to see who will be the manufacturer to take out this class.....who has the best 600????

is ducati going to do motogp2?????????? they got nothing in the road line up that would sute or be compettive so i am guessing that they wont bother with it and just stay in moto gp

It will also spell the end of Aprillia and Debi and KTm in the minor classes.
Again the Jap manufacturers get there hand in, mix everything up and end up with the major advantage.

Another moto2 bike :)

Moriwaki has clearly been busy since we last reported on their Moto2 project last summer. The tube chassied concept racer looks to have been entirely scrapped by the company. The new MD600 has been completely redeveloped with a twin-spar aluminum chassis, reconsidered swing-arm, a lightened sub-frame and elegantly refined bodywork. The only thing that stayed is the use of a Honda CBR600RR-derived engine.

On looks alone the MD600 is stunning. The rippling lines and undulations on the tank's surfaces harken back to the hand-formed aluminum race tanks of mid-century racers, a refreshing contrast we'd love to see carried out on the rest of the machine.

Right now the details for the MD600 are obviously scarce as they expect to implement necessary changes once the FIM regulations are made firm. All the company is saying is that the MD600 uses the CBR600RR engine for power with a bore and stroke of 67mm x 42.5mm, and that the length of the bike is 2,000mm. Other details can be gleaned from the photo such as the Nissin front calipers.

http://hellforleathermagazine.com/images/MoriwakiMD600-1.jpg

However, the really big news from the press event is Moriwaki's "MD Project." The company is developing a 3-tier platform of race ready machines for privateer racers beginning with the still unveiled MD150, then moving up to the MD 250 and MD600.

The manufacturing of small-displacement road racing machines built strictly for privateers has all but disappeared over the past decade. The most painful being the end of the once ubiquitous and legendary Yamaha TZ250 as well as the Aprilia RS250 Challenge. Last year's pull-out of KTM's Redbull Rookies Cup in the US seemed like the end.

Needless to say, we're over-joyed to see Moriwaki's commitment to keep youth-oriented privateer racing alive. (Two wheels)

Yeah. Like Maxwell's time at the Island would have placed hime 13th on the Motogp grid out pacing both works Zooks.

They've really fucked it up. 990's were just fine.

KTM will come back on board not this year but next, a new rd going 690 RC8 I reckon...

If u were putting money on the new class Moriwaki has always been hand in hand with Honda...

I'm sure after one or two seasons more manufactures will jump back on board and it won't be a control engine for long, KTM, Aprilia, Derbi could run there own 600
