Hi all,
I read elsewhere that a guy managed to get a 12.5sec quarter out of his Husky SM510R (which i've also got). Also read that the new 600's are doing mid 10's and the 1000's are doing mid 9's over the quarter mile in standard trim?
That got me thinking what sort of straight line performance are bikes capable of doing?

Fast.....thats for sure....
Only ever been to the drags once and my first run was 10.420 bog stock except a yoshi can and no map and I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. Christ only know what it could do with a jockey with some ability...........The bikes have only got quicker since 05 so its scary thinking about it.

The 1000's i've seen run low 10's, my R6 has run 11.1... this is all stock though!

Modern litre bikes will go from stand still - upto 160kmph and back to stand still in under 10 seconds (bog standard) so that shows how good thee rockets can accelerate and stop.
0-100 is under 2 seconds.

Never been to the drags, but am assuming everything depends on the take off.
I also dont believe for a second that many riders are going to get near 9 s ( too many people like to talk crap ! ), not what they will actually get, which will be closer to if not more the 11 second mark.
So as always, depends on the rider, not the bike !

Just about every bike: http://www.sportrider.com/bikes/146_street_bike_performance_times/index.html
I'm also thinking that so much depends on the rider having the skills to launch the bike HARD. Because beemerboy and i have had the ocassional drag off the lights, and whilst on paper my 600 is not far off his 1200 (1/4 second or so) in practice he dissapears into the distance ...

Your 60ft time makes or break your run especially on a 600, the launch is prob the hardest parts to learn anyone can open the throttle wide open.
I have been a few times and can get most 1k bikes off the line but soon get wasted as the HP kicks in.
I also got beet by a new ZX6R '07-'08 model with minus the 36cc but the thing was just quick in the top end.
12 flat is my best on my 636 '06 but my starts suck... launch from about 5-6k but should be 8-9k

+1
Most of us would be happy with 12's and 11's if we actually went to the drags, I think...
Kat00 is a freak though! Bet ya $10 he couldn't do it again (on a nominated night after at least 3 runs)... :dancesmiley:

It's not about competing with you. It's about seeing you do it again! :mod_smilie_rockwoot
Besides, why would I waste my time with a slow bike like yours? :stirthepot:

i done an 11.2 on the cbr600rr years ago(i think it was in 04)..slip on yoshi only..and stuck in the 11's all night
its a good night though.. and definitely not a s easy as everyone thinks..
been thinking about taking the duck up for a run too:confused1:
My very first time at the drags i ran against pan and was very nervous had a bad start and small tank slapper near the end and ran 11.3. the next run i was more relaxed and ran a 10.7 not too bad for a 99r1 i think.

Couple of years back at Bikefest, I ran 10.91 on a stock k3 750 and was beaten by a 40kg girl on a stock k2 600, she ran 10.67....
Dipping into the 9's would be no mean feat on any stock bike...
Much like a lap of the track, it felt like my smoothest but slowest run.... but everything just came together...
Hmmm CBR600RR ('05) 10.49 @ 133.3
I dont know how legit that is, but thats nuts
that was on >>
