After seeing this I will stick to full face helmets from now on.

One wonders how much a helmet wouldve helped ?
Thats alot of damage there, looks like a case of sometimes no amount of protection can help to me.

From what we can see, his jaw has borne the brunt of the impact (vertical split in the middle across chin) but also his left side jaw-joint has snapped. There are other obvious fractures to the cheekbone beneath the left eye and across his forehead.

My guess is a full-face would have lessened the impact to his jaw at least....Statistically, there are definitely fewer facial injuries (Killeys type fractures of the jaws especially) with full-face helmets.

bit like the old photo that used to float around on rotten.com years ago.. harely rider had 1/2his face missing and was concious in casulty:hatter::dohsmiley:

Yeah, the open face helmets may look cool, on those "retro" bikes and scooters, but full face is definitely the way to go! Poor bastard looks like he's in a bad way. :(
