Just got an email from CSS/ECRD about the new racer days, not sure if this means for all the spots you need a race license, but I can find out.

Heres what I got:

Eastern Creek Racer Days.

These days are designed to give everyone who is serious about their track riding an opportunity to make the most of this 3.9km piece of tarmac. With the options of; gaining some “Race Practice” sessions with limited numbers and timing transponders (race license holders only); Race Practice time with access to “Industry Mentors” (which will include factory team managers, technicians, and riders); all the way through to the enormously successful California Superbike School program – exclusively for racers, you’d have to agree that there’s not much more you could want from a ‘serious’ day at the racetrack.

With prices starting from as low as $229 for a scheduled 6 x 20min practice sessions, through to $299 for the same amount of track time with some ‘love’ from the mentors and $429 for the full Superbike School program, there’s something for everyone! Seriously…

Dates:

Monday 26th January (Australia Day) – with special guest Keith Code!

Friday 20th February

Friday 24th April

For more information or to book, please call 1300 793 423.

they also added this bit...

Sounds like this is to replace the popular CB race schools, sounds good

Well, the 'race practice' sounds like a normal track day
The 'race practice with industry mentors' sounds like the old CB, and
CSS is still CSS

Do you know more Jason?

There's also this 'trackstar' deal ... http://www.easterncreekridedays.com.au/content/view/29/18/

Hmmm, so the only difference between a TD & RD would be the timming equipment, another couple of flags and the end of the 6-8 feet passing rule. Could be a go'er!

Hopefully it prevent some egos from entering in a higher grade than thier ability permits and stops the girls dicks complaining to course control about some closer overtaking.

A track day with its balls out.....I like that! :ayyy:

Yes, I also received that email, and am keen to learn more.

I wouldn't mind getting there on the 26th of Jan, but have a prior commitment unfortunately. Keith Code is the guest rider on the day!

Perhaps I'll check some of these out through the year.

Keith Code is the guest rider on the day!

Hopefully he will interact a little more than when Wayne Gardener was there as a 'guest'. I'm still owed a CSS at half price (last one cancelled due to rain), but I can't take that up on the 'Keith Code' day :(

I think that's right Cap, he said something about it that day but I can't remember clearly what it was?

I like that Trackstar thing!!:ayyy: But I'd say that the rewards program needs work... just a half day discount doesn't really cut it to me. Of course that with the prices the way they are, any discount is welcome:cursing:. But if you wanna make a serious reward program there should be more incentive for those that are REALLY committed to trackdays. Say, after 10 TDs you get free Trackstar track day (read trackstar advantages), after 20 TDs you get something else... on so on. After 1000 TDs you can just show up and they'll sort stuff for you, bike included and a guaranteed happy ending!:lmao:

It's these guys: http://www.madaz.com.au/

Mr Ed, i think somoeone wrote up a review of the Trackstar packages, maybe a search will show something?

The trackstar is the package RAT's use to get the discounts.

Haven't given up on that yet, still negotiating, fingers Xed

Yep, that's what I was thinking. It comes down to $170 p/TD on the package... but I'm willing to pay the extra $ if it means helping the RATs community! Plus nothing beats being in the RATs garage!:ayyy: I just hope the in-pit scruiteneering works out our way.

Just thought I would shed a little light. I spoke to Steve today and this isn't a replacement for the CB race school but will follow a mildly similar format. The key difference is that they plan on having not just experienced racers their as mentors but team managers, mechanics and owners. I think this will be bloody brilliant.

It's more focused towards the racers who have given up on track days because of the fuckheads that book into A group. It will allow them to get proper practice time plugged into the timing loop at EC. Although track days were never meant to be practice sessions so what can you do.

EC came to MEGA and asked them to organise this as they thought it was something that EC needed and was missing.

I guess it's safe to assume that serious means under 42-43's? aye Jase.

jasonbw
19-11-2008, 08:59 PM
I dont know... but some serious racers are doing 1:50's at EC in supersport (or even 1000ccs) in races yet they shouldn't be excluded. I have no idea how that'll work, Squash? anything on that side of it?

Proberly groups, maybe C - 1.50's, B - 1.45-150, A - below 1.45 maybe..

Wont it just be if you hold a race lic your in & times wont even come into it.

I can't see them turning away someone with a race lic just because they do 2min laps.

I'm up for it plus have my race licence :ayyy: more than likely run the groups on your grading like they do on practice days
prob a&b then c then d
I hope they will also give us time for some practice starts as I need the practice on the R6

Three problems with using claimed lap times:

1) some small/old bikes (historic racing like PCRA) are physically incapable of achieving times under 2 minutes;
2) some new racers may not have ridden the Creek before, but are fast around other tracks; and
3) a lot of people lie about or "generously estimate" their times.

Hopefully they open it up to anyone with a race licence, let them nominate a group with suggested lap time parameters and then move them if they are obviously too fast/slow. The race licence requirement should greatly reduce the "numpty factor".

In my opinion :)

I think that's the best plan. At least people will be taking correct lines and not crying about someone passing them.

I didn't think about asking these questions yesterday. :confused1:
