Well guys I have my raceglass from the USA & were wondering just what colour to paint the bike.
Seeing my old FZR 1000 is a 92 model I started thinking, what bike were racing in those days & how did they look?
I did a bit of research & decided the Yamaha dealer team were a big deal. Firstly in Marlboro colours & later in Peter Jackson colours.
Pumping out the like of Keven Magee, Mick Doohan. Troy Corser,
Scott Doohan, Rena Bongers, Peter Goddard, Steve Whitehouse, & many others.

Ok here we have it. This is the bike Ive decided to copy for a few reasons.
1 Its a 92 FZR 750 [mine is a 1000] close enough..
2 Its the same year as my bike.
3 MA in their wisdom gave me the registered racing number "20"
4 This bike has number "20"
This is Troy Corsers PJ bike in 1992.
So that is all a bit of an oman in my book, so Im going ahead with my plans.

I like it .... except for the numbers. Not the no 20, that's cool but the 'fonts' for the numbers (do you say 'fonts' for numbers too?).
Tell you why; the racing bikes (motoGP, WSB etc) have these good looking numbers, more 'squared' whereas the numbers I see locally at ride days are these more 'script' type fonts. Do you know what I mean?
Anyhow I reckon your bike will look tops :ayyy:

I like the idea of seeing bikes/ cars run round in period colours. The only shame is you can not run it with Peter jackson to make it full authentic.
I am going to go the opposite to Captain and say stick with the numbers purely to keep it the same. Hey like our opinions really matter:ayyy:
Like it look forward to seeing at the end.

Well I got onto Mototech in Smithfield today. They were the guys contracted to do the PJ bikes in the 90s !!!
I spoke to John Allman who is the owner & has all the origanal scetchers & spec sheets, that were given to him by Yamaha.:dancesmiley:
Spoke to him for ages, what a helpfull guy. Get this he has an ex team
Yamaha FZR 1000 superbike he is running in New Era 1 now!
He offered me all the spec sheets, pics & the paint to do the job.
He said it was a pretty easy job, as you can see in the pic, theres not much in it.
So now I need to hunt someone down with some time on their hands that would spray it for me. :confused1:

Any ideas guys????

you were talkin to him for ages as you say
Unfortunately he is very busy, although his workmanship is outstanding.
I probably could have it ready for the Bikeshow.
But:: & its a BIG but.
It is out of the reach of a struggling racer like me.
I need a guy that paints for a [hobby, or for kicks] so to speak.
Someone that can do it on the cheap. Ya with me?
might be able to help out, a friend is a spray painter & is keen to do cashies etc

It would be great if you could post up some pics of the FZR on here.
PS I think it would be great to see it at the
09 Barry Sheene Festival Of Speed at Eastern Creek over Easter. 3 days of racing history.!!!:ayyy:
