Just got my ebay dirt bike. Typically the forks seals are goosed and the seller never bothered to mention that minor detail. How much should I expect to fork out for the above. Marzocchi cartridge forks. (I'm just hoping the rear Ohlins damper isn't fucked also) I'm planning on removing the fork tubes myself and handing them into the bike shop.
cheers all.

Picked up a 98 TM Racing TM125.
More concerned how much labour I am going to be hit for. I wish I had a bench to do it myself as it doesn't look too hard.

i know its about 3 hours worth of labour on a road bike might take about half that time with a dirt bike though

Congrats, little trouble aside ofcourse.
Ive got a little 125 dirt bike ( pitbike, dirtbike equivalent to a pocket bike :lmao: ) and although fun, just too small.
Will be getting an older 2 stroke road registerable 250 dirt bike this coming week, cant wait, maybe I can finally learn to wheelie without shitting bricks :o , better yet, maybe I can throw on some rd tyres on it :).
Reason I mention it is, although cant wait and looking forward to it, I know I have some work cut out for me also ( no clutch cable, no road gear, hasnt been ridden in years, just from what I know) so I feel your pain.

I'm also keen to try some dirt bike riding ... haven't done any for maybe 30 years. Is anyone else keen? Maybe somewhere you can also hire a bike, some of the dirt-experienced RATs could come along and give us some pointers?

Try running a feeler gauge around the seal to clear any dirt ouy, I was talking to a bloke at an MX track one day and he said he never replaces fork seals, just does this. Worth a go I reckon

dude you can get a seal head for that bad boy ohlins on the rear fully rebuildable , as for fork seals run genuine TM ones as the aftermarket jobbies are stiff as for euro conditions and our aussie talcom powder dirt eats them up and they end up leaking quick smart, will be the same forks as early (93-98) ktm and husky so shouldnt be hard to find, chuck bushes in it as well probably due for it, while ya there...

I used to love ridding dirt bikes, 2 of my mates just got new ones i think im getting the bug again!:ayyy::ayyy:
Dirtbike fork seals are easy just get a workshop manual some tools and take your time in a clean environment, but if you have a ding on your fork tube you may need to get it resurfaced and that is expensive!
I dug up some old pics of me on my old cr250 and yz125 damn im getting nastalgic...(read old) :mod_smilie_rockwoot
