Cost depends on what ya want done.
Thing to remember is a Dyno is a tuning tool, nothing more, nothing less.
If you are going to tune it its worthwhile, depending on the mods you have done to the bike. You will need a PC or a Yosh box or the like, it is possible to modify the stock ECU. To give you an idea on costs about $500.00 For a PC. About $300.00 for custom map
If you just want to know your HSP, you will be wasting about 100 bucks IMHO.

Well rather than re mapping the standard ECU which is gonna cost say a couple of hundred.. a new one will cost a little more but easier to do!!

Fingers
21-02-2007, 11:01 PM
Oh and you'll have a larger variety of tuning whereas re-mapping will the on limit your choices of tuning!!

You can download generic maps from Dynojet for free to work with a PC, but if you want it to run at its best, custom map it. The bilKe will be a lot smoother, better throttle response and more fuel efficient.
2 spot is being conservative Fingers.

Hey Fingers, cars and bikes are different.
What most people are doing for fuel injected bikes is buying Power Commanders and getting them tuned on a dyno. Full ECU upgrades are unnecessary and too bloody expensive. The standard Power Commander is used to adjust fuel/air settings at various points in the rev range. You can also buy a Power Commander with ignition adjustment capability too, but most people just go the standard version.
To get the best out of your bike on a dyno, a Power Commander, full exhaust and air filter helps to free 10+ HP out of a 1 thou.
Doin' Bikes at Chipping Norton do a pretty good job of Dyno tuning.

I've been thinking about getting a full system, just have to wait and see how things turn out.

All I know is that when they put your bike on the dyno make sure you are not there. Ive seen em pull the throttle back to the stopper & rev the shit out of it. I thought they were gonna blow this guys bike up. Made sure I was standin back so I didnt get oil on my shoes when it blew.
You dont wanna be there to see that when its your bike on the dyno.

I'll be right, they break it they WILL replace it.

Also have any of you got a TRE? can you tell me if its worth it to fine a good one? At the moment im thinking Ivans.

i have 2...bought one for each of my tl's...
i put one on the road tl...and it didnt make me any quikker in the quarter mile. but i had made a few other changes as well....so im not convinced that it is a massive increase in hp. but id assume it makes some difference....
i got one that was made by a guy on tlzone.net and it was only about 30 bux or so so dont pay much more than that fopr it...

and fully. i still have the second one if ya want it for the tl. brand new never been on a bike...$20 and its yours mate

Cleverlie
22-02-2007, 11:21 AM
HP increase? I thought it just made everything alot smoother and takes are the timing retardation in the first 4 gears for better throttle response? :confused1:

dungbeetle
22-02-2007, 11:25 AM
the timing is retarded normally. well so they say...so ya have less power and therefore cant wheelie...so the tre makes the ecu think its in 5th or 6th gear. throttle response. hp. supposed to make a difference somewhere...

Cleverlie
22-02-2007, 11:28 AM
Yeah something like that more power under 5 grand, well for my bike but i can already do sitting down power wheelies at 5 grand.

I'd give Ten Tenths Motorcycle Performance. They are located at Warwick Farm. Colin is the main guy there, and is pretty good with getting more power out of most sportsbikes with minor tweaks (or major tweaks if budget allows). He's got his own dyno there as well.

Jus spoke to Kat00 about that hey.. Didnt realise that a new ECU was so expensive.. Jus figured that a bike was smaller less wiring sorta thing!! Jus ignore me though guys.. Haben't done work to a bikein years.. last work i done was to my old MX80 trailie!!! Boared out to 90 rebuilt the carby and put a kit through it. Went like the power of piss!!! i used to run down my mates 125 and another mates (at the time brand new) 1995 150..

The website is crap but it has there contact details on there.

Best off giving them a call, telling them what bike you have and what you want out of it and I'm sure they can recommend a couple of suggestions of what you can do and estimate of price. Every bike is different so it's probably better just to ask them what they reckon are your options.

I got my GSX-R re-tuned there, removed baffles, modified Gear Position Sensor, etc and they were quite good and fair priced for effort. Also they were very helpful in tips with other stuff and weren't pushy in trying to get my business.

Im getting it all done at Ten tenths, turns out my Father use to race colin back in the day.

Also Anyone here have a micron Slip-on? and are they good for HP gains?
What im gonna do is probably just get the custom map done on the bike with its current mods and then later down the track get a full system along with some engine mods.

Hey Just quick question on pipes, since i already have a megacycle slip-on on my bike do you reckon the company would sell me the rest of the parts to be able to make it a full system?

Does megacycle even make full systems? their site doesn't really have anything on it. Damnit!

Cleverlie

Back from the dynos. The custom map added 6hp gain over the whole rev range, i can't do a stock vs modded but i reckon there was atlest a couple hp gain without the map so im happy!

did a little test ride in the carpark and only got up to 4-5k rpm before i had to hit the brakes so i really couldn't test it out that much but it felt smooth.

I agree with Kellz

Maxpower just did the work on the Z and I was more than happy with results.

Max Power Wollongong is not exactly next door to Penrith but it was worth the ride.

A 4 into 1 exhaust with a PCIII, K&N filter and some airbox mods netted an additional 22RWHP.

Cheers

I'll be checking out some other places when i do the next custom map/full system but yeah i found 10/10ths to be good.

What airbox mods did you do? and is there a site somewhere?
