This was posted on PCRA web site, where people were complaining of the same thing with the oregan camera's turning on and off.

Hope it works :ayyy:

For all you guys that have an oregon scientific video camera like myself & are sick & tired of the bloody things turning off due to vibrations there was a fix offered by another forum member but i have an even easier & cheaper method of fixing the things,
the problem is that with the vibration produced form the high revving bikes is that the batteries are vibrating off the terminals that's why they turn off, so what i have done is to get a few little pieces of aluminium foil & put it in against the terminals & presto it works
i ran my camera all day at the 20th Anniversary Meeting & it didn't turn off once, if your not sure what i mean bring some foil with you to the next round & I'll show you it will take 2 minutes to fix

Just a thought, I purchased the above just recently, used it a bit, but it hasn't switched off once, even at EC, (stashed it under my LH knee pointing rear) no problems. Maybe they've adjusted manufacturing??

Maybe my 'spit on the battery terminals' idea wasn't so dumb after all ...

Thanks for that- will be trying mine for the first time at EC 5th July. Have a good 'hiding' place on son's FZR but no real good one for r6- might try and face it backwards. I also have some rubber matting (like sleeping bedroll stuff) to pack around it- hope this might help with vibrating?

Mr Bones just uses the strap to attach it to the oggy knob. He didnt even try to hide it & didnt have any dramas.

There are massive manufacturing faults with this.

I bought one ages ago, it would turn off just a a slight shake.
Took to to camera house @ blacktown, that bloke stated that he had returned heaps of these back to the manufacture, and there is a recall on more then 60% of there batches.

He called me 2 days later and i picked up the new one.
It works perfect and even kept recording through a crash @ ec.

dont fix them, claim warrenty

Mine only cuts out when cheap batteries were used. Since using good Alkaline or lithium batteries I can't fault it.

Im interested in these on board camara's Whats the go with them. Excuse my ignorance but I gather you dont bolt a handycam to your bike?

I would love to get some vidio of Oran pk on the 13/7 but I have no idea what the hell to look for.
Is any of the RAT pac that have one of these new fandangle gizzmos, going to come to Oran to watch us oldies that weekend? Can you have them as a hand held, or are they just a fit on the bike affair?

Graham:: will you be comming out for a look, or are you riding?

If I could get some vidio of the old FZR strutting its stuff I'd be a happy man.
Steve.

Gaffa tape an ear plug over the mic, seems to work ok on mine. But mine sits right above the pipe at the loud end so I've got an up hill battle here :dohsmiley:
