Wakefield park has just been purchased by Winton Raceway. The best news is that they are going to resurface the whole circuit with Hotmix.

Woohoo! wakefield is gonna be even better:ayyy:

I was looking for ride days at Winton after reading that news article and couldn't find any info, apart from open practice days which are only held on Fridays. Although the Winton officials mentioned that Wakefield's planed events would continue for this year it begs the question, what will happen next year when it is resurfaced, will they continue to hold ride day events and if so, at what price? I'guess we'll have to wait and see.

That is a good thing about the resurfacing even if I think it's not that bad, it only gets bumpy if you get off line. What worries me is with all investments the new owners will surely increase fees. At present you can privately hire out the track on a week day for a really good price, get 30 odd people together & you have your own private race track all day for less than a group booking at EC.

They're supposed to be building another track with similar features to OP when it is shut down. Hopefully they don't take too long to do it.

Id like to see the run off areas at Wakefield resurfaced as well......maybe with cotton wool or sponge rubber?:(

Yeah, WP has just a bit TOO much character at the moment. My last visit there cost me about $3k after falling off on the last turn. Check my racing blog (link below for the full story & pics if you interested.

But I like the track - being so tight it levels the playing field a bit, and I don't get TOO badly monstered by the more powerful bikes on the straight.
