Hi
Does anyone have a clue as to what gearing i should be looking at for Oran Park, booked in for the 9th Feb :)
Have just put a new 520 kit on my 2000 model R6 , have 14 and 15 front and 46 and 48 rear at the moment. I was thinking along the lines of 14 front with 48 rear.
Does this sound about right ??

get a 15 front for it, I did this to my 675 and it has so much more punch outta corners which helps a ot at Oran park!

Thanks for the replies guys, i think std is 16 48 as mentioned before, have run with 15 48, and this was OK, just wondered if anyone had run 14 48 for even more punch out of the slower corners.
Cheers

you would be wheel standing everywhere whith that combo, it is equivelant to going 6 teeth up on the rear, plus put a lot of stress on your chain

don't worry about it..just get out there and ride. unless your doing some super duper A grade time, then it's not going to matter.

Hope the wheel don't move to far back in the arm as a result of the gearing changes.... ;)

Hiya Madmax
The data for the R6 on that link show max rpm as 12000, this is incorrect, it should read 15,000 or 15,500 thereabouts. This would give me a true max speed of around 253 kph with 14 48 ratio, give say 10% for speedo error and you get about 278 kph speedo reading.
But like i say, ill try it and if you see a guy limping around hahahahaha that will be me :)

no that’s correct it's gear were the bike make the most hp I for one don't run the bike to redline intentionally you just lose time cause the bikes not making power
I have a 99 r6 at the moment is got 15 46 on it and its way to tall even for ec but I have worked out that either 15 50 or 14 48 would be about right
this is is only a guide the tyres that you use also affect the final gearing too but it will get you in the ball park

Hiya Madmax
Ahh i understand now, peak power not over rev etc thanks for that......
I reckon the most limiting factor for me will be the temperature on the day, for me it gets so hot, i just cant get enough fluid in me.
Thanks for your advice, really welcome
Cheers
