View Full Version : What a shitty day

Everyone says shit happens in 3's but I dont know.

I get hardly any sleep last night, have to wake up early to run an errand. A mate blocked me in this morning and I was in a rush so I took his car down since it was only 5 mins away.

Im just about to turn into my street and I get pulled up by highway patrol.

In my rush and being half asleep, I didnt bother with my wallet!

He asks if this is my car, I tell him my mate left it last night as he was drinking. He asked if I stole it, I jingle the keys and offer to call the owner but he asks for my license, I hand him my mates wallet, then realize its "not mine, I picked his up by mistake"

He asks for my details, I tell him and point to my street which I was just about to turn into and offer to follow me (im in a shit box camry wagon, im not running!)

Turns out, my mate still hasnt stuck his rego sticker on and the cop noticed and pulled me over for it. He tells me I can be fined for 3 things but will only book me for "not having my license" and will mail it out.

Not only this, I left my keys and had to break in!

Oh well, shit happens, unlucky.

2nd, I had to drop off something to a mate, she couldnt get it cos she was sick, shes in hornsby so I decide its a good idea to take the bike and do a lap of the OR. Its stinking hot so my jackets open, phone in one inside pocket, wallet in the other. As im coming around the corner, I feel something hit my knee and knee slider, look down and see a white flash and hear a thunk from my fairings. I think to myself "I didnt see any debris on the road, what was it"? Its not a reflector, I dont run my line that tight and it didnt feel like a puck/reflector hit... maybe its part of the engine?

I turn around, do another lap and slow down on that corner but cant see anything, turn around and head to RWC.

As im leaving, I notice my phone is missing, fuck! This is not the first time as I lost my original on the RNP and now I just lost the, replacement. Pretty much the same way!

I ride back and find it on the double line, pick it up and its still on and working! Not bad since the last one disintergrated! Cracked screen, scratched etc but it works!

I planned to spend the day at the beach today and by this time, im really pissed off I didnt.

But wait, my day gets better! It starts to rain so I hit the freeway. I go down the hill near kuringai exit, slow down and notice an impreza braking hard and his right blinker (or hazard, I cant tell) on with a 4wd up his ass. He has slowed right down and im aproaching fast (compared to him) when I notice a massive branch on the road covering his lane and maybe even the far left lane.

What happens next happens in a split second:
As I nearly pass the 4wd (who was right on his tail), he veers to the left very quickly, there is a bus in the left lane and hits him hard as he was probably doing 100 still. As I pass, the car flings around in 180 deg and back into the middle lane, maybe into my lane as well. My instinct was nail it which I did. I wanted to be as far away from carnage as possible.

If I was 2 feet over or a few feet infront, I would be in hospital right now, possibly dead.

If he had his right blinker on and he didnt swerve in my direction, im thinking it was for a reason... Just 10 mins before, I decide to turn my high beams on as im darting around and its getting dark due to the clouds, I want to be more visable even if it might piss a few people off. I also removed my dark tinted head light cover. Cant tell you why, just decided I wanted to blend in I guess.

I didnt think of this until I had got home and told someone, but if he swerved to the left and he seen me, his decision saved my life or a serious injury. If I didnt have my high beams on, would he have seen me? The accident was pretty bad, the impact looked all the way up to the B pillar! I backed off, looked back and seen all the cars behind pulling over. I contemplated pulling over, but I seen the 4wd and bus stop and all the traffic behind stop and with hail on the cards, I decided to keep on going. They would have seen pretty much what I saw, probably more. I didnt get hit, so I kept going.

I guess some of you will think this is my justification of why I didnt stop, im usually a very helpful person, and I do hope they are OK. After seeing that, and the day I had I just wanted to get the fuck home. I might never know if they veered left because they didnt want to take out a motorcyclist or it was just their reaction.

So, this was basically my day. 2 bad things, one near death exprience

Tough day. I wouldn't worry about the licence, highly unlikely they will mail it out. Humans hate paperwork and coppers are no different

A couple of lessons learnt - freeways suck, mobile phones don't go well in your jacket pocket (what sort is it?, just don't want to buy that one) and lastly your never invited on any ride I go on with the luck you have it might rub off:ayyy:

With regards to stopping I am with you, if you can not render assistance then don't stop the best thing you can do is get out of the way.

Most importantly though you are hear to tell the story

i dont know about that fine with ya lience part. I have asked at the cop shops a some years back what if you dont have your lience on you while driving. Had an acco with an old bloke and he didn't have his lience on him at the time. Cop states so long as you know what your lience No. is than that is ok. I know mine with all the tickets ive had in the past.

A highway mate told me 99% of the time you should be fine with your license number, BUT, following the letter of the law you still have to be able to produce the license off your person. So if you get an cop who wants to dish it, then he has the right to!

Marcus, did you remember and give him your license number?

I know my license number off the top of my head so I gave it to him.

I got the fine in the mail today... I thought the fines usually have section with points lost but this one doesnt?! Guess I have to check on the RTA website... Dam it was nice having 12 points for a while (instead of having 1 for nearly 2 years)

Still No idea who or what hank moodie is... I even did a google search.
