Hey Everyone!

Back in December i had a prang which left my beautiful Suzuki SV scratched (small amounts nothing huge).

So, i'm thinking of selling my pride and joy for a few reasons, but not for a few months at least. Probably well after December unless i get the right offer.

However, having limited knowledge in EVERYTHING apart from my job i have no idea on how to touch up the paint.

I was told i need a paint code, to match up the same colour. Makes sence. Where would i find out exactly what type/coulour paint it is. If i asked for Silver paint i think it'd be kind of vague.

Also, if someone could also let me in on some handy tips for Prep and execution of this messy job, as i have read alot of you have had some exp in this area...

In return i can offer you nothing, apart from a Thank you! Partly cause i have nothing and nothing to offer cause clearly i'm an idiot hahaha

But if you want any help with Health and Fitness, ask away! :D

:ayyy:

Cheers!:D

There are sites out there that let you type in your model, and it'll give you the EXACT paint codes any auto repairier/ auto paint store need to make the exact copy.

but... you may well find your Suzuki store sells touch up pens for your exact model.

If not, then Call Holden and ask who the USA manaufacturer of their paint is.. its weird, like AC delco but I think its different... then go to their site and you will find it. sorry I cant remember the name.. if you have no luck then let me know and I'll find it for you.

Any Suzuki parts store can get you touch up paint, they have the part numbers listed on the microfiche.

She wont Start at the moment, get a huge F1 flash up on me on the dash.

I'm guesisng its from the radiator on my bike being dismounted.. not to sure on the total damage to the radiator... if any apart from being off hinged..

Looks a little bent, but i could be paranoid.

Thanks for the help mate, when i can get her running again i'll fix up all the fucked up paint!

Hey buddy, how big are the scratches you need painting? If its only a small amount its easy as. When i got my new zx2r it had scratches all down the left side fairing from a slide. I went to super cheap auto and had a look at their silver paints (they have about 9 types of silver), found one that was called arctic silver that looked like my bike and its an almost identical match. You wouldnt even know its been re sprayed. I just prepared the surface and took my time applying coats of paint then top coat then used some cut and buff and its good as new.
Your silver is similar to mine but they have all shades of silver. At $9 a can its a better alternative to special colour coded paint.

If i find some free time i can come over and have a squizz at what you need done. Let me know if your around tomorow or monday.

because of me needing to take a few months off work and it coming into the summer months, it'll be too busy to keep my position open, because they can't afford to be one man down. So they're finding/ have found a replacement for me, so there's no guarantees that there'll be a job waiting for me once my knee is fully healed and I'm 100%. So if I can;t get my job back I'm thinking I'll move back down to wagga and get a job as an apprentice at one of the restaraunts. the only thing really holding me to sydney is my job at the moment, so if I can;t get it back then there's really no point in staying:headshake:

Sorry to hear of your recent off, hope you and bike is OK.

As for paint, preparation is everything, much more so than painting, depending on how big/deep scratches is ofcourse, you could try just touching it up with touch up pens as Jasonbw has said, or spraying with touch up paint, but personally, unless they are HUGE, I would just leave it.
Respraying only de-values bike, and it costs for the privilage.
Touch up is fine and again, depending on how much damage.

id take it in to a panel beaters /painters and get them to match it for you

eye match is the way to go to get it spot on

befor i get swamped in requests for paint jobs ,im not set up to do them at the moment ,
i have been working as a boilermaker since i moved to oz
so any help in either feild im happy to give, yes i can tig weld lol
