Well yes, the dick head copper was driving his wifes car and turned in on me. Happened outside parra cop shop as he was turning into his driveway. But the fool was almost stopped as of traffic and the lights a head were red. So i pasted him on the left hand side at a slow pass and he turned just after the intersection that has their driveway just after it. He didn't have his indicator on till the last sec just as he turned in. I was furious.
didn't his passanger door and broke the mirror. Me bike is ok and seems to only have a slightlest mark on the edge of my leds blinker that sits flush almost.
So here i am arguring he does ckeck his blind spots, rear mirrors etc. Of course he's the cop and knows the rules. Cant over take on a one lane. He also said he didn't notice me behind the car. How could you when its getting dark like its now. My headlight shines bright right in the back of car windows.
Ive also said ive been toi court on lane splitting few years ago and they cant define the rule. He thinks im some bush lawer then if thats the case.
Im just pissed off as i why would i come along and see that a driver is turning with an its blinker on and decide to pass on that side.
Now im going to have to find out if i can get out of this or not. Im betting im going to have to cop it sweet as its his word against mine and he a cop and i aint. Just not too sure about the passing him on the left as i think its the right i can legally get past crawling pass through traffic while in the same lane as the car.

oh F@#k just found this and i was right. Thought you could get past on the left.:cursing: But if the idiot had given propper warning (indication) of turning left i would of known and let him turn b4 i travelled future down the street.
Just going to have to wait now and see how much this will cost me. :(

Don't be like that man.

Dilbee, hope everything goes well for you. I've nearly been wiped out by a police car once.

yes i know its my fault i guess. But really he should have given clear sign to turn in. Guess it could of been worse and handed a ticket to me. The guy was ok about the whole thing but im just annoyed about the whole thing. Guess it will be just $500 bucks or so for the the insurance claim to cover his car. Only looks like door skin and mirror. Just glad the bike isn't damaged. By little finger lost a tiny bit of skin and brused knucke and thats with the gloves on. Some how got me just under the knuckle part?
He always was saying he sees these things happen every day with aco and should really be carfefull and could of got killed. Bit over the top and as it was just a bounce and low speed. But anyways...

i learnt my lesson once while i was on my P's... i very rarely go up the inside... i did it near a truck and he had is indicator on the right then turned left, just missed me i touched the truck and ended up on the gutter... it turned out he left his blinker on and didnt change it until he turned left.
He told me when i pulled up next to him and chucked a wally

Bad luck Dylan.
We all take calculated risks riding in traffic. We would just commute in cars if we wanted to snail pace along with the flow of traffic right?

I could of got taken out big time when I was a first year rider and went to pass a line of cars (on the right hand side) only to find the one at the front was stopped and about to turn right. I was so lucky he must have seen me in his mirrors and waited otherwise I would have T-boned him at speed and been scraped off the road and side of his van.

I don't see how you can find that a 2 year old Article written in Victoria gives you rights in NSW?

Shit, glad to hear your OK dude!

I figured something out the other day, I rode home with a riding buddy who is not entirely sane. With all of his 110 + lane splitting on pennant hills road, stupid speeds, attracting attention dodging in and out of cars, I decided to let him be and decided its not worth it.

10 mins down the road, I caught back up to him while he was sitting at a set of lights. All I had to do was filter through maybe 10 cars to catch back up while doing the speed limit.

I know your situations different, but when it comes to traffic and dick heads on the roads, I make sure I have plenty of time to get where I need to be so I can ride like a biatch and be safe.

IMO its better to be late (or fired) then dead. Im going to evasive riding a try while in traffic then offensive riding.

glad you're ok.

It sucks, even if you're at fault legally. The law and logic have nothing to do with each other unfortunatly.

Good luck if you try to contest it. Let us know if you need witnesses :)

Dilbee, you said the driveway was just after the intersection, so I'd say the reason he didn't put his indicator on earlier is so that nobody would think he was turning at the intersection.

The only argument I can think of that might save you is why the hell was he so far out from the kerb that you physically had the room to get up the left side of him? You could argue that you thought he was changing lanes to the right, then suddenly on comes the left blinker and whammo!

Not sure ill fight it as im sure the way it it looks is that i have done the wrong 1st by passing on the left and it was only one lane. getting past at a safe speed on the right side of the car is ok as that was what i found out in court with lane splitting about 7yrs ago in court. Won that that. :)
But the lane is very wide. But he knew he wasn't in the right also. What he should of done was idicate half way through the intersection at leastand not as you turn into a drive way. I also told him does he turn in like that with cyclists? I gave him a fair ear full soon as i jumped off the bike and i only get get this worked up if i know im right. Well im sure now he will take more notice around him when he drives and give better warning when turning. Why id i have to teach him this lesson i dont know. Surely being a cop he should of known better.
No matter what it looks like im up for the bill. :(

mate, i was T-Boned by a off duty copper, who i swear was drunk, & used to play for Manly (Sea Eagles)
it was late at night, it was wet AND raining, & he pulled out past a stop sign & clobbered me.

i flipper over the bonet (after smashing into it) 3 times before hitting the road & sliding down it, looking at the stars & praying a car was not coming the other way, as i realised i was sliding on my back on the wrong side of the road...

in the end, he promised to pay for all damages, just so long as i didnt report it........
you see, you only have a certain amount of time to report an accident. after that time lapses, you dont get to claim against insurance & a (police accident) case cannot be made.

the fact that this happened nearly 20 YEARS AGO, just means that i remember it like it happened yesterday & i am on old & bitter bsatard.

Moral of the story: if i was not so young & stupid, i would have got more than nothing in the end... i even bought the wreck after i was burnt by HIS insurance company because i loved that bike so much.

fight the power my friend!!
if you do not at least explore ALL avenue's, maybe you will end up up to regret it like me.

if you were in the wrong, consider it tutition expences - or in other words, a lesson learned in life.
