Hey guys,
Sorry I missed you all at EC last weekend :( , had a early christmas party to go to.
Im just wondering about what kind of bikes are allowed at tracks. Ive got my ZZR250 which id love to throw around a few corners. Would i need to make any mods in the way of eliminating headlight, rear view mirrors etc? Would i need a track fairing put on it?
Also are there size classes? I couldnt imagine being on the track with you guys when you all have 600+ bikes, you'd be all lapping me!
Im thinking of getting myself a cheap 600 or so bike just for track days and..er..:shifty: ..stunting. Anyone know any bikes going cheap?

Mate you just need to be sure its road worthy, ie steers, stops, doesnt drop oil everywhere & they check stuff like levers, chain & sprockets. oh & tyres. You dont need race glass, but its a good idea if you want to have a real go cos the genuine stuff is expensive when you throw it down the road. You need a full set of leathers, boots, gloves & they will check your helmut.
They grade riders & bikes or you just nominate what class you want to ride in. If it makes you feel better just start off in the slowest group, learn the track & when your confidence grows you can approach the people running the show & ask to be put up a class.
Hope this helps.:ayyy:

They have classes... but they are self chosen so you put yourself in whatever class you want.
I wouldnt worry bout being intimidated by bigger bikes... once you get to the track you will realise there are some big fast bikes that go really really really slow. (or more accurately really slow riders on really fast bikes)
As for track preparation. Nope you don't really need to do anything. Make sure your tyres arent bald. You can take your mirrors off (i do) but you dont need too. (can just tape them up) and you dont have to worry bout covering or removing anything like headlights or fairings.
What is allowed at the track. - Anything that is safe. i.e chain not going to fall off throttle works, brakes work, gear lever works.
Definitely get out there. you will have a blast at the track no matter what you are on. And i promise you would never have ridden so fast before. You need leathers and boots but if you dont have any you can hire them there.
classes are
C - slow
B1 - medium slow
B2 - medium fast
A - Fast

Thanks guys for your input, it really helps. My bike at the moment should be fine passing all the tests, its a 3 month old 2006 ZZR, so thats cool. I dont think ill take it tho, being brand new and my only form of daily transport, i wouldnt want to loose it round a corner.
Ill just wait till i get something i can drop without worrying too much. But thanks for all the info, ill keep it all in mind when bike hunting :)

Hell yeah i wanna! I know my girl can handle it, ive had her red-lining at 165kph, but i think thats her limit unless i give her some small mods. And she handles like a dream at that speed, its like she wants more!!

its only a lil monster and if your taking her on the track you'll need more practice with her and no wheelies!
save that for your bike
