I have recently bought a new Gixxer 750 and am not that happy with the OEM tires.
I used PP on my VFR800 and loved them on that bike and thought I will put them on the gixxer before my first trackday but the chap at one of my local bike shops is trying to talk me into Metzler M3 and will throw in a free dyno run, he says they will grip better and last longer, is'nt that a contradiction in terms.
I have moved the forks through the clamps so the forks are flush with the top of clamp(slightly slower steering/better feel)and set the static sag and it feels tons better. Anybody have any comment on a good tire for me keeping in mind I'm an amatuer so don't really need semi race tires:thinking:

I've got a set of M3's on my road bike. They are easily the best tyre I've had on it. I haven't used them at the track though, so I can't give you any advice regarding that level of traction. I have pushed mine as hard as I'm prepared to on public roads and would definitely recommend them for that purpose.

hey,
i've also got a set of M3's on my Gixxer 1000 road bike but don't think I'll get them again. I've got no real reason, just don't feel as confident as the OEM's which were Bridgestone BT014's.
I did however take them through a fast ride in the rain and they seemed pretty good though.

The 750 also has the BT014's and i dont like them to much maybe I should give them more time. I'm leaning towards going with what I know which is Pilot Powers.
ive got them on my r1 and ive done track days, road riding and wet riding and i have a lot of confidence in them, But they dont bubble up as much as diablo corsa for street cred look.

The BT014's are not in the same class as Pilot Powers or Metzeler M3's.

I've got Metzeler M1's on my R6. I'm very noob and wouldn't be able to tell a good tyre from a bad tyre.
Anyways, are they actually good or not? I've got the Action $350 special ones...
I've got M1's on my Tiller & I'm happy with them, though it does'nt take much to chew them up.

M1's are a good road tyre and at $350 they are a bargain.

I had BT014's on my bike before the M3's and I hated them. They were great for the first real ride and then felt terrible from that point on. They'd be fantastic if I had the cash for single use disposable tyres, but since I don't and I still like the M3's after several thousand kms, I'll just have to make do.
A mate of mine coincidentally had the same complaint about the BT014's. It's weird. It put me off bridgestones for a while but I've been really happy with the bridgestone slicks I got off Craig for my track bike.

funny that, i wouldnt piss on a set of bridgy road tyres if they were on fire, but yeah, absolutely love the bridgy slicks

well theres your answer. Definitely bridgestones for the track but not the road. Have a crack at the M3's. I deliberately went with them to try something different. Everyone else was getting pilot powers so I figured, O.K we know they're definitely good, lets see if there is something better. My next set will probably be PP's for comparison.
