While watching the F1s today, someone said that the NSW gov wants to steel the F1s from VIC all good stuff.
But were are they gonna race?? EC isnt FIM/F1 standard as far as I know, so will this mean we'll get a new track???
The mind boggles:eyecrazy:

Street circuit, most likely.

Homebush was being touted as a likely venue.

True. though if they want to ever build another circuit there's no better excuse than this... It doesn't even have to be Sydney, that Central Coast one that's been so talked about could a really be good option.

99% EC but not as we know it. Whilst looking in the paper for a new job I stumbled across an ad for a position at ARDC . Project Manager, Event co ordinator type position. Job description involved bringing the facility up to international standard, to bring new events into the state. Some one here should apply to find out if a second track at the facility is on the drawing board.

States are broke. Cheapest option is Homebush. Would be much better to modify EC as spectators would see more than half a corner

streets of wenty would be an option!

April Fools has come early.................chance of this happening zip, zero, nil, nada, nought.
If they go any where I would wager on the Middle East. I got into a conversation with John Kent the Director of Strategy & Communications of Yas Marina Circuit about 6 weeks ago when he was out here pre the V8 Supers racing on the circuit, their short term goal is A1s long term F1.

this state desperately needs 1 preferable 2 new tracks, competition, competition, competition , let those who ride decide where they want to spend there money instead of being forced to put up with track dictatorships we have now.
I'm sick of single track operator rules we are forced to abide by and the old argument to many ride day operators were sending each other broke, if they were any good at providing service at a reasonable price they would survive regardless!
If only the people knew the corruption that goes on behind the scenes, can't wait till what I saw/read to-day comes out in the open.

I have heard a rumor from a friend who races v8 supercars that there is a plan to rebuild a circuit somewhere in nsw to fim stds that will be a similar layout to the bulldozed oran park !
Hope it becomes more than a rumor

Well this issue has really ignited some passion.
I think its time for every motoring fan to start to lobby the state gov, & they might understand that, this sposed to be the [I]premier state so lets start governing it like it. Not just run it down to shit & walk away from it. The latest poll shows that the current labor party is on the nose, its had 4 leaders in the last 4 years & is floundering. Im not saying the other mob would do a better job, but if they thoughts there's votes in thie issue they might do something! Dont know exactly what but the voters have the upper hand now with an election within 12 months, now would be the time to get something going.
Stepping down of soapbox now...

i did hear a while ago(when they proposed the v8`s at homebush ) that the state gov was going to extend e/c to bring it up to international standards so they could host f1 i heard they have plans to extend the track at T11-T12 so it comes into line with F1 track lenth
the cash they pumped into homebush for the v8`s was a crime. people coulnt see more than 1 or 2 corners at best and the racing wasnt that good what they could of done with the millions that went into homebush for a 1 off they could of put into the creek and a hell of a lot of people could of had the benafit from it not just a few v8 drivers would of been better spent and whats the gov got to show for all that cash now ....a few rubber marks on a road ????? and a bill to replace roundabouts what a joke our gov is
my 2 cents

NSW chimes in and says no probs Burney bring it to us we'll do night. Vic says stick it up your ass NSW fuck it burney well go night for ya then. Vic keeps GP NSW fails again.

while I agree with you completely.
The biggest problem with the Creek is how do you get heaps of people out there? It's not like Catalunya with the train station right next to the track. You can say the same thing about Phillip Island too. I dunno I think we are screwed in this state for the foreseeable future. The love of street circuits among car fans is not going to help us.
I wish the track that was proposed just outside Raymond Terrace (up my way) got built. It would have taken about 30 mins to get to. Damn you people of Seaham that objected to it. All ~12 of you.

Actually it was the ARDC who proposed the extension when the idea of a street race was being suggested to try and get the 100mill. The state government had no interest at all in extending EC.
Due to it being poorly promoted over the years it has become a bit of a white elephant. Crowds (and I mean decent crowds) had no issue getting to or going to EC (anyone remember the Winfield Triple challenge?) the problem has been that the majority of the track is not serviced and those parts are the best viewing. Not everyone wants to sit on the main straight opposite the pits. Two of the best spots are either off limits to spectators (on top of turn 2 - 3) or not serviced with food or amenities(Corporate hill).
The NSW government is just trying to tout that they want to have big events here. If they were to bring the F1 to Homebush it would not work in its current configuration (Monte Carlo has better overtaking opportunities). If I was promoting a street race in Sydney I would put it under the harbour bridge and have it run up through the Rocks. Something like Hickson road, right on to George st, left on to Lower fort st, left again on to Kent then down to Hickson road. If nothing else it would at least showcase Sydney, instead of an old toxic waste dump called Homebush.

It seems no one is willing to take a punt & build a circuit with the exception of the MG car club & the proposed motorplex concept. This was going to be a all in one facility. Road racing circuit, drag strip, speedway & maintaining the current hill climb at the Raymond Terrace site.
They had the money on the table were all ready to go until Port Stephens Council knocked it on the head
This may still have some life left in it. Maybe wait until the current group of nay saying cronies get the arse from their seats & put forward a new proposal. The council recognised the track would bring employment & tourism $$$ to the area but canned the idea due to the environmental impact.
We can only hope this will come to fruition one day.

I think we are talking of the same proposed site. I think.
What environmental impact? It has the pacific hwy to one side, a quarry on the other and barley ranch motorcross and speedway track to the other. So that only leaves one side exposed.
That decision was a complete joke. Raymond Terrace is pretty low on the socio-economic scale so I'm sure the jobs are more important than some minor environmental impact.

Thats the one mate. I chased it up on the council site after the blocked it in their meeting. Like you said mate the Pac Hwy creates enough noise. I think the idea was to amalgamate Barley Ranch & the Hill Climb site to create one venue.
The council knocked it back, then it was refered to the Land & Environment Court. They agreed with the council in that it would not maintain the rural character of the area; would have significant impacts on local streets; and would be a noise issue for the area. It also found that the impact on flora and fauna, in particular 'threatened species', was unacceptable.

Having some experience of the area in question. That decision is a joke. It would have been turn left off the highway and there is the track. Anyway all those roads off the pacific hwy up there are all at least 80kmh.
Seriously for what those people paid for land up in that area they can handle some noise - they already have the RAAF jets out of Williamtown.
For those who don't know the area housing is rural, like 20 acre blocks - not suburban at all.

Slippin' and Slidin' but not dreamin'
..... I've got to agree with Foghorn, the states are economic basket cases with NSW, in relative terms, the worst.
I watched so many off's on the 20th-03 with even race teams a good 2 sec's down. It wasn't much fun. Sunday had plenty of grip. Not sure why?
It's been some years since I rode at EC and after Phillip Island a fortnight before, it was like a goat track.
EC's T2 still has its 'two pieces - joiner crack' with an oil dump right through the racing line to make it interesting all Saturday.
'A quality circuit in NSW??? - no time soon, so don't hold your breath lads.
Cheers
dad
