This is to satisfy my curiosity more than anything else but I was wondering if there is any club that runs a Superbike Class circa 1996-2003? I love the period with Slight, Fogarty, Edwards, Bayliss, Chili, Gobert and the bikes too - RC45/SP1/GSXR750/YZF750/ZX7RR/916 etc and I wondered if this class exists..
From what I've gathered, the 916 is the only bike eligible to run in Pre Modern PCRA and the entries for these events seem to be predominantly running Japanese machinery. Indeed from the 2009 Barry Sheene there was only 1 Ducati in amongst 41 Japanese bikes (wasn't a 916). I realise the SP1/2 and later iterations of the 916 wouldn't be eligible for Pre Modern but I thought I'd ask anyway..
So is there a class? Or do the Ducatisti tend to run with BEARS only? Does any of this make sense? :ayyy:

i think maybe there's no 916s cause they're too dear $... but they should be at the pointy end if ridden well, they certainly were capable machines... buy one and see...
other than that, yep, st george's retro class is the go... for value for money, i'd recommend a 95 is model, and race them both with pcra nad with st george.... a T or a zx7rr or a 916 / 748?
i have seen a 916 out a couple of years ago.. they probably are racing in bears ..

i think it's for models without fuel injuection, up to end of 99? i think they wrote it up as pre 2000. heaps of options. they allow F95 premodern and anything before too, incl forgottene era to enter i think. i hope to do some later in the year on the fz750.

Does that mean everyone's running round on '98 R1s Zoltan? Or that there are different classes within?
