Can any of the more seasoned people suggest some back protectors
Im aware that there are a lot out there but im looking for something easy to use and comfortable as well as offering good protection. A mate said his dainese was annoying (too long) and they have brought out a slightly smaller one. I think its more that he's a short ass!
A mate needs to sort out a suit so I'll be going along with him to check out back protectors.
Money isnt really an issue

I have a Dainese BAP back protector which is so comfortable I don't even know I'm wearing it. I would ask Swabio which one he has as he hit the tyre wall big time at Oran Park on the 29th and lived to tell the tail ;)

I know you found another thread but in case its not mentioned... what leathers have you got Marcus? I didnt notice before but my Alpinestars jacket (its a 2 piece setup - I use it every day on my commute) has a pocket on the inside with a crap foam protector. I removed that and put a BAP3 like Biggie in there. I couldnt say I dont notice it but it never gives me a comfort problem. Goota say these babys should be compulsory for track events.

i've just got the $180.00 UFO, and once i'm all geared up and riding, i honestly dont even know it's there, until of course i pull in off the track and can fell something holding my fat in:lmao:
+1 on the UFO
I love it. Doesn't bother me at all! I wear it as much as possible, even during the week if I have 20kms to cover on a trip, unless it's really hot and sweaty.
I feel silly NOT wearing it!

mate i remember going for a ride on new years day of 2006, i think it reached the 50degree mark out west here, and i still wore all my gear including the back protector (mental note: dont do it again without having more then a 2ltr camel back:cursing: )

Knox, absolutely brilliant if youve got a short neck like me as ALL the others stop me from doing hed checks as they foul the back of my helmet/s. Not cheap I'll admit but I can wear it all day without a problem. Extra large straps if you need that (Beer gut, or maybe Kellz for the next couple of weeks), but more importantly they come in 7 diff sizes.

I tried some on but forgot to take my helmet!
One things for sure, I need ones with adjustable straps!
Anything over $150 is suprizingly comfy, I doubt I will notice its on while riding but will check out the fit with a helmet
I wear 2 piece SX-1 Alpine Stars leathers and as I couldn't get the original insert protector that went inside the jacket, I opted for a Dainese H-P-C insert. This fitted ok as the shape was similar.
With my recent off at OP, I received bruising on my bottom of my back where the tail of the back protector dug into it.
The insert protectors are ok but once I get back on the bike, I will defintely be going for a full protector that will cover all the area.

The dainese aluminium honeycomb jobbies are a good comprimise of price and quality. Only a little bit more than dungbeetle paid for his piece of shit one.
If you want more protection it is possible to buy back protectors with extra bits, like kidney belts.
Make sure you try it on first. Some brands make two or more versions of differing length for extra short or tall people.

Yeah I am looking at the dainese ones with the tail bone protection. Im aware that these are annoying with leathers, but IMHO it beats not being able to sit down if you come unstuck.
I pretty much need the shorter ones as im just under 5'8''
