http://www.worldsbk.com/images/stories/news/p90056061.jpgFor its second year in the Superbike World Championship the BMW Motorrad Motorsport team is sticking with the experienced rider pairing of Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus. Together they have notched up no fewer than 507 starts and 44 wins in this series.
The ambition of two-time world champion Corser remains undiminished: "I definitely want to win another World Championship before the end of my career. The next step along the road to achieving that goal is to collect as many top-five finishes as possible this season. You can sense the determination of BMW Motorrad to climb the ladder."

Xaus is also aiming high for the coming season: "I'm very happy to be competing as part of such a strong works team and to be playing my part in this project from the ground up," explains the Spaniard. "We are looking to take the next step in 2010 to ensure that our goals become reality in the not too distant future."

A new addition to the team is Davide Tardozzi, a man with a proven track record in Superbike racing, and who has worked with, and won titles and races with Corser and Xaus before. The Italian will head up team management and operational control at the race tracks, while Rainer Bäumel will continue as Head of Overall Project Management and Project Management Engineering.

Following the tests in Portimão and Valencia, Team BMW Motorrad Motorsport is now preparing for the first race weekend of the Superbike World Championship in Australia from 26-28 February. Further tests are scheduled at the Phillip Island Circuit on 20, 21 and 22 February ahead of the race.

I was racing at the 88 world supers at Oran Park in a production race. I watched Davide Tardozzi he was no slug. In fact I think he was in the first 3 all weekend. Good man for the job I say..

There's been a lot of speculation that Xaus will get the boot from BMW, and Tardozzi is not denying it ... but claims that at the moment they are just focussing on getting him fit for the next race. Unless he really shines, it's hard to see him lasting much longer.

It's also a good excuse to post this pic up:

It's interesting though; Xaus was always seen as one of the most talented riders, I have seen videos of him doing incredible things with the bike, and yet this doesn't necessarily translate to a fast track rider? Of ocurse he's very fast, but I'm talking about the pointy end of the field. Admittingly I don't know enough about him, perhaps it's just this bike that's not working for him? Anyone know more?

Easy to forget his last year on the Sterilgada Ducati he was up the pointy end/winning races. Sure he has had some spectacular crashes especially on the BMW but im sure he has the talent to run at the front. Even Corser who is a multiple world champ is struggling to get good results on the BMW. Lets hope all there development last year can see them at the pointy end this year, 5 different brands challanging for the win? yes please! Then all we have to do is wait for the green bikes to pull there finger out........ but thats a whole different topic! :p

And Captin that is a wicked photo! Maby Xaus is struggling a bit because his head is somewhere else? haha

I hear that Xaus is going to be doing a many practise sessions at Eastern Creek ride days - mostly in red and green groups until he sorts himself out. Apparently he's capable of low 30s but is not confident at overtaking.

Want to share track time with him? :lmao:

Stoner could well have gone the same way really I rekon...... he was a crasher as well, but once on the right bike for him and learning when to back off and not over ride the bike, he's doing very well..... Xaus is fast... but maybe just can't turn off that dickhead switch some of them have. And obviously the bikes he's been on haven't been right or set up right for him to be able to be as fast as he can be , at the front and without binning it left right and centre. But yeah, hard to see how he'd be in the series much longer.... his side of the garage would near double any team mats side, purely through bikes being destroyed. Haha
