View Full Version : PCRA Round 1 27-28th of Feb

Who is entering the 1st round of PCRA?

Me and JonoZRX will be making our racing debut. Both of us are pretty nervous and were currently spending a lot of hours in the garage trying to get our bikes ready.

We were joking around one day about how crappy our bikes are and decided to come up with a team called 'Ghetto Racing'. Nothing serious just a bit of fun. We've been keeping track of our progress on a FB page. Jump on and have a look if your interested. We keep it pretty light hearted. Join up while you're there and make us feel popular :blumsmiley:

Cheers,
Mike.

I'm in New Era (I think - bike is an '89 model) formula 3 on a VFR400. It will be my first race, so I'm currently shitting myself!

Edit - this depends on whether I get my brakes working in time. True to form, Mike has ruined them by merely looking at them :lmao:

Nothing to be worried about Jono. Most guys know what they are doing & look after each other.
Although F3 is a hotly contested class. And those buggers really punch ubove their weight, & are very fast, as are some of the 600s..
Just go out & do your best, Hold you line, dont try & rush anything, let it all happen & It'll be apples..
Come & say hi.

Is anyone interested in sharing a garage? Mike and I have booked one for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and we can fit another bike in there.

Seems that last year may have been a good one for PCRA and publicity... More people want to race in it this year.. All good i say with the likes of you guys racing, it gives the novice like me a chance to follow (yeah right) and learn heaps. Just gotta get another bike with a bit more balls. I'm hunting a 750 now. Fingers crossed. Dads entering on the little yammie 600..

Thort i'd do a bit on my own pair. Dug the spare out today to let her breathe again , its been since the last BSM she has seen the Chq'd flag . The old girl is my wet bike and i am fixin it so the pair can interchange wheels (1 has marchesini's , the other marvic's) so if i have a problem with either (there old and if you go to a race meeting with only 1 u can be dissappointed) i can throw wheels at either. Callipers can stay on and pinch bolts dont hold the axle just the spacer and the nut.

Might be a silly question but does one have to join the PCRA to race with them? I'm already a member of St George, and I remember reading in the Barry Sheene program a couple of years back about riders racing in that event, but being from of different clubs. Just wondering how that works exactly...

Bad news. I broke my finger a couple of months ago. Turns out the medical advice I received at the time was pretty shonky and my finger is wrecked. The first stage to fixing it involves keeping it dead straight in a splint for 3 months. Which means no MC racing for at least that long :(

Pretty shattered right now as I'd been building up to this for over a year now. But I'll still be out there offering pit bitch services to Jono and Craig. See you's all there :ayyy:

Guys,

the PCRA is please to announce that for the first time Historic bike racing will be screened on free to air television. A recent deal with the producers of a soon to be broadcast show, Power Wheels TV on HD CH44 will cover Easter Sunday's racing of the BSFOS. This will then be converted into a 1/2 hr production which will be screened on the 15th,22nd & 29th May as well as periodically throughout 2010.

Power Wheels TV (HD Ch44) will be broadcast across the east coast of Australia with a potential viewing audience in excess of over 3 million people.

As part of the deal, the PCRA will also get a master copy of a DVD made of the event as well as a number of high quality photo's.

So polish your bikes & clean your leathers as you may end up on tv or be part of the DVD!

and this

Guys,

It has become a hot topic of conversation, as to whether a rider on a New Era/Pre Modern bike can enter the BSFOS using a Historic One Event License. After consulting our MA delegate, the committee was informed that the license relates to the event not the type of bike entered. Thus, a New Era rider can enter his bike in a historic event such as the BSFOS using this type of license.

Don't forget the 21 day application window.....

Keeping you informed.

Well the old man had a meet that he would rather forget.. Started by locking the keys in the car that was fully loaded at 5am. We got there at 9am but sorted for pratice.. Practice went terrible, he was doing 1.29's  He went out in qualifing and only managed to get to 1.18.. Just before the 1st race he decided to put the bike in gear (accidental) while the tyre warmers were still on and fuked my warmers....:BangHead::BangHead:
He managed to get down to a 1.12, not to bad for a 57yr old... But this was as good as it got... Next race he clipped the back of another rider and binned the bike pretty bad. He broke his shoulder blade and half the bike. Its mainly heavy cosmetic damage, but enough for nearly all new glass, new tank, new bars, new master cylinder, new tacho/speedo, new front brake lines, new rear sub, new rear sets... I think thats about it untill i pull it apart.. Pics soon...

PS - Wetty was flying out there. He had too there was some fast dudes on his arse. 1.03. New lap record and 2 secs of the Superbike times on a 20yr old bike.. Well done mate it was good to watch..
