The only thing i can really find is:

Australia Dunlop has been getting most of its tyres from the US of late due to supply and demand.

from what is says in the FX details it looks like the Sportmax GP-A are coming from the US.
"These tyres have been specifically developed for Supersport & Superstock racing in the US"
"Sportmax GP-A is manufactured in Dunlop’s USA manufacturing plant in Buffalo, N.Y."

The states use all the control tyres from Dunlop like nothing else seeing they have a pretty good local race series set up over there so i would assume 90% will come from the US.
Get a free croissant with the french version?

Here's some info i found on the FX site...Plus the US AMA and other supoort series have used this tyre most of second half of the 2009 season so i reckon if you hunt around on the US market and forums they are available...
Dunlop Sportmax GP-A
This tyre has been developed by Dunlop USA especially for the Superstock & Supersport racer. The Sportmax GP-A is a DOT treaded race tyre & offers excellent grip, handling, and durability. The rear GP-A features Dunlop’s unique MT “Multi Tread” compound construction which incorporates a tough, cooler running centre compound for straight line stability and traction, and a special compound on each shoulder for superior corner grip. The rear tyre also features Jointless Band (JLB) construction to reduce tyre growth, hence cooler running for more consistent grip. The Sportmax GP-A has been chosen as the official tyre in the 2009 AMA series for the Daytona Sportbike, SuperSport & Moto-GT classes. The 190/55 –17 size is suitable for both 600cc & 1000cc fitment & is used on both capacity bikes in the AMA series. The Sportmax GP-A is manufactured in Dunlop’s USA manufacturing plant in Buffalo, N.Y.

The one control slick class at next years race meetings that has a control tyre is the Pro-Twins F1 and F2 class.
We have been able to secure for the first up winter AFXC series which starts in late March one set of control slicks per each of the five rounds for each of the rounds overall class winner.
Information Regarding The New F1 & F2 Pro-Twins Control Dry Weather Slick Tyre:
Dunlop Sportmax D211 GP Racer Slick
The new D211 slick is a result of 2 years collaboration between the UK & French Race Tyre Departments. From the technology invested in the famous KR108
NTec, the technicians have developed a tyre that has performance levels second to none, yet is now more affordable to the average racer. The D211 Slick incorporates the latest in race tyre technology in both construction & compounds. The casing of this tyre is made in a similar method to the NTec & will offer similar performance characteristics. The D211 Slick also features Dunlop’s unique MT “multi tread” construction as on the NTec. The new compounds are a result of extensive testing & racing in 2009 so only the very latest compound mixes are used in this tyre. The rear will be available in a choice of medium or hard compounds the front in a soft or medium compound.
The new D211 Slick is being manufactured in Dunlop’s factory in Montlucon in France.
Control Slick and Prices for 2010
Naked Bike & Pro Twins F1 & F2
120/70R17 D211F Slick $265.00 inc gst
190/55R17 D211 Slick $330.00 inc gst
$595.00 per set inc gst
The above prices include freight, fitting & balancing at the track by the Monza Dunlop Tyre Team which has provided such a great service at past ASC and FX series rounds.
While the control treaded tyre will only come in one compound set in 2010 the control slick tyres in Pro-Twins will be available in two combinations. Soft and Medium fronts and Medium and hard rears. A maximum of two sets is allowed for each round of the Australian Formula Xtreme Championship rounds. For the FX1000 two sets is also the maximum number of tyres per round. The FX600 class will have a maximum of one set plus an extra rear per round to make allowances for A and B graders also competing in the class rather then it being limited to C & D graders.
The Australian Road & Track Rider Promotions Company is in a number of negotiations with potential sponsors for providing contingency prizes in all the classes at the two series in 2010 which are expected will boost the value in prizes for a number of classes including the Pro-Twins class.
Further information regarding the two new Australian Championship road racing series, its classes and control tyres will be announced over the next two weeks including television coverage.

i know there was a stack of these tyers at the creek the last ride day held on the 26/01 because the asbk teams where invited to test them to see how they perform as the new control tyer i did hear that they are about 1 .5 sec slower than last year( before the test ) but about $300 cheeper per set for the teams

I have them, got them fitted by Madaz when my 209s came to the end of their life at EC two TD's ago.
I like them, they give decent feedback and wear well. I should get another two TD's out the rear and four from the front. I had the guys there look at them at the end of my last TD, and they commented that they wearing as they should. Went on the site, bloody hard to find what psi to run them at!!

tell me about it, but from the little i have gained, I think the following:
209GP-A = sportmax GP-A
209GP-A = new improved version of the 209GP
but the most confusing thing is what damn pressure to run the rears at. It would seem that the fronts are the same as the old 209GP, but looking at http://www.dunlopracing.com/ it is saying to run the rear at 23psi hot! (hmm, sounds like an NTEC?)

I'd say Monza would be your safest option on getting these tyres.
I'd hate to rock up with the wrong ones lol
Not sure on pressure, the word will get around at the race meet what people are running so don't stress

how has everyone got on with these tyres?
used them at PI last weekend and a few people had issue with wearing, but think that might have been due to the unique characteristics of PI rather than the tyres itself.
has anyone used them at Wakefield yet?

Everyone crashing? blame the tyres :D
It's true Kris.
But I think there is some work/study to be done on both suspension settings and tyre pressures........but the jury's still out on them.
I'm avoiding them in the FX rounds by entering Naked Bike class which doesn't have a control tyre, rather than the Pro Twins F1 and F2 class which do.
colinginger
05-03-2010, 04:43 PM
not sure about slower... Aaron Morris broke the Stk600 lap record.
I noticed that on average the fatest lap times were dropping about 1.5 seconds between qualifying and 3rd race.
They do need different suspension and tyre pressures, which might be why people were crashing as they had not had much time to practise with them.
Apart from wearing a rear a bit to much due to using to low a pressure, i thought they weren't to bad.
DanFX
05-03-2010, 05:16 PM
You are right, suspension changes are needed, my bike is in now getting done.
Hey Colin do your tyres look hammered? mine look melted haha
Morris is looooooooooose!
should have stayed with last years tyre, total confidence and fast!!
lap times are down compared to last year
colinginger
05-03-2010, 08:14 PM
the front is good, but the rear looks like the rubber has been rolled off when hot! when i raised the tyre pressure it stopped it occuring. it was also only on the very edge of the tyre (left handside) and the rest was fine.
would love to know what changes have to be made to make them work!
i am thinking that the fastest guys out there will notice the difference and maybe slower.. but i'll not notice the difference!
DanFX
05-03-2010, 09:46 PM
The suspension is more to prevent crashing and to save the tyres. I'm running wide and pushing the front feels like it's about to let go! Top guys at p.i last week already had the suspension modified to suit the 190 rear. Are you racing Wakefield?
colinginger
06-03-2010, 01:46 PM
so what mods should you make for a 190 rear in general?
am racing at wakefield, so will be there for the friday practise.. not ridden there before so will be interesting!
colinginger
06-03-2010, 02:34 PM
Taken from another website:
Ride height is the width of the tire (eg:190), multiplied by the aspect ratio(eg: 55, which is a percentage of the width.)
Formula: For a 190/55 tire, 190mm x 55% = 104.5mm
190/55 104.5 mm
180/55 99 mm
190/50 95 mm
So looks like the ride height increases by approx. 6mm in the rear with the 190 tyre, which i assume is therefore putting more weight on the front end.. might explain the front end issues with the new tyres!?
DanFX

05-04-2010, 11:06 AM
What was the verdict on the pressures for these tyres?
who knows.. it seems everyone is using slightly different pressures depending on suspension setup. I think the tyres are very sensitive to track temp! (probably due to the rear using medium compound on the edges, which is probably to soft)
