Hi guys,

Am wanting to purchase an Arai helmet from the US. Have been investigating if there is a helmet shape difference between the USA and Australia.

I have tried the helmet on here and the vector and corsair is the right size for me with the standard cheekpads off the shelf.

I have searched the net and found the Vector and Corsair helmet shape is intermediate oval in the USA. (There is long oval and relaxed round oval also)

Though can not find the sizing chart for AUS on the net

Does anyone know if the sizes are the same for the same helmet or are they made different for fat head amercians?

Be a bugger to get it here and find it doesn't fit - I wouldn't trust this years model being the exact same size as last ,,, TRY BEFORE YOU BUY

I own 2 helmets that were "cheap" but hate wearing them cos they don't quite feel right

I have an American arai rx-7 corsair, the sizes are the same as Australian ones..

and about the sticker, i have personally ridden with American helmets for 5yrs and no cop has ever checked.

i don't know about shipping one over thou, i would consider that a little risky i have always brought mine as a carryon item. but if you do, goodluck!. let me know how it goes... :ayyy:

I've alwyas wondered about doing track days with them. I've been at track days and never had my helmet checked.

Same with cops, been pulled over heaps of times and the last thing the cops is after is my helmet. Usually its the speed I was doing or how quite my bike is.

EC trackdays come under MA rules, the helmets listed in the rules on page 1 are allowed, you never know if it's checked since the stickers usually on the back or back edge, during the walk down the line the leathers are often checked as are helmets too.

Different to a race meet though where your riding gear is scrutineered.

Using a non AS approved helmet on the road isn't a great idea for the reason that if you crash and need carting the ambo's always take the helmet to check for damage (to treat you), if it's noticed to not be AS approved then it'd be a stretch to get medical insurance coverage. It's a pretty bad call by the govt in my opinion since often the same model helmet has passed in the other countries, the rule should be more like the MA one to allow for other countries testing to be trusted.

Not a problem at all! I've shipped a helmet from the US (the one on my pic) and one from the UK, both via ebay and all...
Trackdays are fine too. Every now and then you will get one of the guys that actually check for it and then you will have to sign a paper saying that you know your helmet is not AS approved and bla bla bla... but they will let you ride. Which is a good thing since I don't even own a AS approved helmet anymore.
Thanks Lucas!:cursing::cursing:

I brought my Quantum out with me from the UK; but have since purchased a Vector - got it from MCA - not fussed with not saving the small amount of money from getting from America. MCA gave me some discount and I do not consider a helmet like that to be worth less than 600 bucks anyway - pretty sure the Quantum was close to 450 pounds 9 years besides.... happy enough and even got the sticker!!! :)

Small amount of money i guess differs from person to person, but i just looked at buy the new AGV GP Tech from the US for $685AUD shipped to my door, MCA/Bikebiz/Helmet Warehouse on sale with a discount is $1000AUD usually $1200AUD RRP

$515 difference is a fair bit of cash... enough spare to buy a decent road lid with the sticker in OZ

Just kidding!:ayyy: I've paid less than half what they wanted for my helmets here. Could never buy them at the price aussie shops asked...:(
