Was on my way to work this morning going through the roadworks on the f3, and noticed a camry sportivo with those little led lights next to the number plate. Hard on the anchors, then slowly pulled up to him and the driver was a cop in uniform... Is there any cars the cops dont use as an unmarked car these days!?

no, in Canberra i've seen unmarked cop cars range from a Black VE SS ute with P Plates to a Volkswagon van with PVC piping on the roof trying to imitate a tradies van.
Shouldnt be allowed to have unmarked cars

I saw an MR2 once with 2 uniformed officers in it plus electronic gear. Was a tight fit.
The HWP are getting around Revesby area in a new Blue WRX.
Also, a mate in the cops has told me about HWP getting around on new sports bikes, filming - but not booking - speeding riders.
They are then using the footage to book riders.

At present the local cops around home have a 2001 Nissan x-trail thats a little beaten up. I know its a cop car as we loan them vehicles (I work a a car yard) & it's one of the shitteres out of the back lot. The boss is away and when they asked for a vehicle thats what I gave them. Its a pice of shit to big scrape down the pass side the aircon works when it feels like it and no radio at all.hahahahaha.

I agree. The last time I was harassed by the pigs (happens once every few years) the two officers were in an unmarked car. I called my local station to complain once I was home and the pig on the phone couldn't even confirm if it was one of their cars! Accountability for officers of the law! My God!

I got done by a blue Magna on the Old Road, with a plain clothed HWP officer. Told me there was also a Camry on patrol that day.
I did some checking and they are also using 4cyl cars with cameras on board, getting footage of people overtaking on double lines. Dont pull you over, just send the fine in the mail, or a visit to your house.

Yep and the slack F&%Ks will sit 20-30ks under the limit just so you get pissed of & overtake them than take a happy snap:cursing:.
F*&k I hate cops like that.

My mates dad is HWY in bankstown. Used to have a xr8 with a big 000 Racing sticker on the back window. He used to get heaps of people trying to run him, so he just let them. He used to have some funny stories, but i would be annoyed if i was sucked in.
They entice you to do it, but we have temptation in all forms.
It does shit me that they even have unmarked cars, i thought the idea was to show police presence :confused1:

Even though I HATE having to dodge HWP, and not going down the revenue raising route, a speeding driver/rider is breaking the law, and if those in charge deem it beneficial to the community to go unmarked, or undercover, then really it is just the law enforcers being a bit smarter.
Dont get me wrong, I dont like sneaky tactics to catch speeding drivers. But if you look at it objectively no one complains when a undercover cop pretends to be a 11 yo girl in order to catch a paedophile online.
I'm not stating that both 'crimes' are of equal deteriment to society, however, under current legislation, both are breaking the law.
Sorry, I'm feeling very philosophical today!

Indeed. However, unmarked cops driving 2 inches from your bumper encouraging you to have a go etc is entrapment. So would a cop pretending to be a 15yr old girl sending naked boob pics over the net.

Thats right , a few bad apples , i was on my way up richmond road this morning around 10 and a hwp xr8 looked at me as he turned on to richmond rd then proceeded slowly up the road until the lights changed and i caught up, as we pulled up at the glenwood lghts he opened his window and asked "have you paid your rego?" , it was due on the 9th nov and forgot to change the sticker but all was paid , told him this and gave me the thumbs up and said nice bike see you later , have a nice day.:ayyy:

i used to work with a retired hwp. he said officialy there was no revenue raising system, but there was a performance evaluation, performance being amount of tickets issued. work that out.....
i belive there should be no unmarked cop cars, undercover police OFFICERS yes but unmarked cars, no way.
policeing is all about a visible deterant, not hiding in the shadows waiting to pounce asap.
as for unmarked HWP cars with racing stickers, well if they lose the "race" i think the winner should be able to keep the cop car, wouldnt that change things around.
speed cameras were originally destined for nortorius black spots, to keep the road toll down, and monies raised be put back into fixing up the roads. now they are everywhere, trying to take money off people like you and me, with the cash goin on anything but the roads. work that out too!!!
i have meet some top cops, standard and hwp, but its the principals that get me fired up........

Seen a few lately
Had a HWP in a current model Civic Hybrid on the F3 pull out in front of me out of one of those connecting roads, had to slam on the brakes, pulled up next to him, to date him up, then i saw all the shit on the dash, the badge on the arm...... apologetic smile on his face, and the "sorry mate" mouthed at me.... i nearly died.....
Also, last year, Singleton had an unmarked Commodore with Frangapanis on the back window....lol
Ohhhh, their latest trick is to hang back from a McDonalds drive thru, and radio ahead to another car the details of drivers using the mobile phone. They recently got 100 in a 3 hours stint in Singo....lol

If its all about stopping people from speeding, marked cars are the way to go! Deter people from doing it in the first place, not catch them in the act. revenue raising f'wits. Just like drink driving, dont wait til they are almost home and then throw the book at them, stop them from getting in the car in the first place. I lived in the ACT for a couple of years, the only time i ever saw an RBT was at the exit to the carpark next to mooseheads in Civic. If you cant leave the carpark, then you cant do any damage to the public! Awesome idea! (though somehow i dont think speeding in carparks is that big an issue..)

Went to Newcastle today, the highway was swamped with HWP...
Just before Tom Ugly Bridge, down the hill, there was a HWP in the middle, hiding behind the rock, radar wielding, trying to get people coming down the hill..
Then further on, drove past atleast another 5.. all undercover minus one.
ON the way back I counted 6...
Definately the highest presence as we had been going there for 2 months each fortnight for work...
Bastards!

:storm: If only they would put so much effort into real crime like people stealing shit and violent crime like rape and drunken bashings.
I don't like it but agree that if your going 20kms or more over the limit depending where you are you may be causing a risk to others and possibly yourself but this bullshit of baiting an nabbing people for bugger all really sucks.
This country has to many bloody :rules: and NSW in particular. I mean they really are the fun police. Of course it's all for our own good.... God forbid we may be able to look after ourselves.
Anyway, I feel a little better now that is off my chest although as per most of you I could rabbit on for hours n hours................

You're right, if anything Tasering a motorist for their inability to understand the percentage scale in relation to speeding fines would provide more information for us to bitch about on RATS.
Moreso, I think the government should invest in web-bots that pick up on phrases or terms like 'Cops are bastards' and 'NSW Police...' then send the NWO black helicopters over, where you're formally processed in internment camps, never to be seen again.
This could have a 3 or maybe 4 pronged effect.
Food shortages, Environmental issues, Over population, and Speeding could all be things of the past.
