Mmmmm Aprilia. I thought there'd be more to this thread (for example, new colours for the RSV1000R) but I still like what I see.
If Ducati aficionados are called Ducatisti, then what would Aprilia aficionados be called? Aprilisti?

The Shiver is a stupidly fun bike to ride, the motor is an absolute ripper. The new colour is a big improvement on what was available.

I can see myself becoming an Aprilisti one day.
Shiver looks shit hot but I'd like one in blue instead of red.

are Aprilia's reliable? Cause they certainly are a good looking bike !

As far as I can gather, they're quite good, with only the occasional electrical gremlin, their biggest problem being parts supply.

That would make you an Aprilista then :ayyy:
Re reliability, the italians like them, but then every man and his dog can work on them over there, I expect it's a different story down here.

They're ok to work on and generally don't give many problems. The killer is cost and availability of spares and seem to suffer poor resale. The RSV's are strong and quick with power to be gained quite easily with few mods.
Good time now to be buying bits out of US for them:)

Well they are known as the poor mans Ducati.
Mechanically they are as reliable as any other rotax powered bike (at least with the 1000cc V-twin models).
Captain that is correct, but sounds rather homosexual in a way.

Well, it is the 'singular, feminine' :lmao:
Funny comment re 'poor man's Ducati'; for so many year the Ducati was considered as a second-rate bike in Italy, the bottom of the barrel, as it were. Then the marketers got to work on it (and admittedly, they did improve in other ways too). But I do recall that for many years, whilst there were passionate Ducatistis in the UK (primarily) they weren't considered anything special in Italy. Perhaps it was because there were many other better bikes? Guzzi, Bimota, MV Agusta ... plus all those others, which probably no longer exist but I'm told were great bikes.

Like Benelli? The Italian Hyosung. :lmao:

I don't know much about them, but reading through Wikipedia it sounds like they had some success before the influx of Jap bikes. Apparently they are owned by some Chinese company now. That can't be good for the image :lmao:

The company came about much the same way as Lamborghini. 2 brothers who were tractor builders wanted to gointo bike building.
It all depends in what you want in a bike.
Yes they are an exclusive bike but damn expensive for what you get. 27 grand gets you a 3 cylinder 1130cc sportsbike that can barely keep up with a supersports machine.

Doesn't stop people from buying Ducatis, does it?

Well Ducatisti have flocked to coffee shops all around the world to celebrate many a WSB and MptoGP win.
Benellisti have also flocked to coffee shops with their well heelled cousins to celebrate Ducati's success in WSB and MotoGP:lmao:
As for the Aprilisti, they probably don't care for coffee as they spend most of their time at track days or scratching up some mountain in Napoli, but they too celebrate Ducati's success at WSB and motoGP.
I treat Italian motorcycling much the same way as I treat Sierra A Football.
You are born to follow a particular club/marque with blind patriotism and disdain for the rest till the day you die. And then the world cup comes along and the entire country gets behind the national team. At the moment, Ducati is the national team in MotoGP and WSB (until Aprilia can win in WSB:stirthepot:).

Cant really go wrong with any of the RSV or Tuono range.
Shivers are proving to be a good thing too.
Parts availability isnt that bad, the dealers are. I regularly supply other dealers & retail dudes with Aprilia stuff & most parts are supplied direct from the warehouse with only minimal parts going to backorder.
If parts go to back order in Italy then you are in for a long wait generally.
Dave.
