Looks like you need more commitment, matches and fuel to get the whole bike burning a little faster eh Gav :ayyy:

Theres an igniton fuse somewhere thats obviously blown, search and you shall find..

Ofcourse you will have to either replace plug, or splice wires, wont get power otherwise, even if fuse is all good....

Mind you, you still got to find the source of the prob that caused that, reg rec, corrosion, water, a short etc....

If the globes are blown in your headlight, then 9 times out of 10 its the res/rect unit...

3 RED wires ........... WTF ???

Looks like the alternator wires, but they should be 3 YELLOW wires ???

Easy to replace the plug, but harder to find the cause.... At the end of them wires may be why the melt-down arised..

Any Physical damage to the harness around the "affected" fairing stay ?

These can be a nightmare job to trace through and you may be talking about stripping off the harness cover....

With Battery fully charged... does it start up ?

How are you meant to get lights when battery not connected ? them wires are your positive leads that have burnt out (hence being red ?) , which wouldve also took out ignition fuse with it :dohsmiley:

Well the Alternator is just part of the equipment to re-juice the battery.

In theory on a working bike, then you could unplug that connector and bike would run as normal until the battery ran flat... (Also unplugging the reg/rec as well as this just turns the x3 RED variable AC currents from alternator into a single regulated DC.

So problem starts with repacing the blown fuse (somewhere) to get check it will run normally off battery only... Seperatelu to that, I think you might need to remove the alternator casing and carefully check the windings to see if there is any burn shellac or noticable damage.... Basically those three red wires are three single windings... There should be a resistance of between 0.1 - 0.3 ohms between any 2 of the three red wires... (so check all three combinations...), then check each red wire that there is not any continuity to ground....

Normally the Alternator has three yellow wires coming from it.... (this maybe an aftermarket winding with colour blind manufacturere ???? so easiest way is to trace cable and check it does route down to alternator ??????
