Hi i've just broke one of the clutch spring bolt in side the clutch. :storm::storm::dohsmiley: I'm in the process of removing it. all it took was 10 NM :cursing:. Now does it matter if i replace the bolts with ones from a nut and bolt shop same size and grade.

Bolts from a shop will be ok but whats the condition of the clutch basket where the bolt threads into.
Being aluminium it could be more rooted than the bolt if it got ripped out.

Rip, wouldn't a different weight bolt cause problems when it's spinning at high revs?
I had a clutch sent to me with a head stripped off, was easy to remove after dremeling a tiny flathead slot and just backing it out... like you said its only 10nm so it wont be stuck in there... maybe even grab a jewellers screwdriver and 'wind' the bolt out... it'll be pretty loose.

Ps. What kind of bike do you have? if its a CBR1000RR I can post you one from my spares tomorrow (might be quicker to check the local shop tho)

#WARNING# just because the torque setting is recommended 10NM doesn't mean a torque wrench will work at that setting with a clutch basket spring bolt. Reason is bolts have spring tension on them already from clutch springs which can lead to an inaccurate torque reading.
Your better off just going to another bolt & feeling the tension at 10NM & using that feel even a little less for clutch spring bolts, because there always under tension they don't tend to rattle out. Even use a light thread lock compound with minimum tension to be safe.
If you need to helicoil for repair make sure you use a high shear strength thread lock to hold the helicoil in place.
