For weeks my CBR1000RR 04 has been blowing the rocker cover rubber seal gasket. I popped it back in and it blew out again. took the cover off again and washed the rubber seal and channel in the casing with prepsol then used 3 bond gasket sealer, it blew out again. Bought a new seal, blew out again. So asked the shop what the fuck is going on. They didn't kown so we went to a process of elimination, unhooked the exhaust return valve, blew out again, rode around with a strait piece of pipe out the side of the bike from the breather thinking the bend in the breather may be blocking when hot, blew out again. We were stumped so we rang a honda technicion and he said 2 weeks ago he would not be have been able to answer it, but recently have found that not only does the stater stuff the reg/rec they have found that when the stater is faulty it can shoot a spark up the engine off timed and pushes cranck pressure to the top and blows the rocker cover seal. The bike was then sent to the shop for a new stater completely covered by waranty. They said the 04/05 models had stater and regulator/recterfier problems but not all bikes had the problem . So it was not a recall, but if bike shown up with faulty ones it would be covered under waranty fully. So if you have one of these bikes and you either have battery charging problems or blows the rocker seal it may be your stater. I'm glad it's over and I have my bike back on the road again, it was very frustrating to say the least.

Hmm I thought it was a spark in the crankcase but couldnt imagine what could possibly generate a spark.
There must be a spark between the rotor and stator

Had the Rotor/Stator and Reg /rec changed under Warranty at 20k and 40k on my 05 Blade.... Touch wood, but she's up to 60+K now so all good...

Was it faulty both times or did they replace it just incase it went .

I think one blew the other... Chicken and egg thing.... From what I gather they had a few different versions before they found a nmore reliable set... Honda USA have a lifetime guarantee on these parts because of this.... (not so for Oz)....
