If it is just a basic service why not do it your self?? (ie fluids and filters etc). It really is very simple plus you save yourself a bunch of cash to spend on trackdays....and you know exactly how its been treated.

Agree, but it's 10,000km service. Beside not sure where to get the parts from and I do not have any tools...

I have 3 honda's cbr250rr, 04 cbr600rr and currently 01' cbr929rr and they all have the same service intervals 1k, then 6k, 12k, 18k etc with the 1st major thing the valve clearance at 24k, which is a top off job and would exceed most home mechanics ability so I would recommend a proper mechanic do this. Otherwise it really is not hard. The proper workshop manual can be easliy downloaded from the internet and is easy to follow lots of pics etc.
I have managed to do many oil and filter changes, flush and replace coolant and brake fluid and bleed, air filter, install braided lines, replace chain and sprockets, replace brake pads etc all with simple tools with no prior or formal mechanical experience. The only exotic tool I have purchased is a chain breaker/ riveter for $80.
Not to mention that it is also kind of fun and immensely rewarding thing to do, well for me anyway. don't forget the wads of cash you will save.
I would highly recommend to have a go if you feel compenent enough.

Go to K&D motorcycles at Yallah.
They support Rats and are alot cheaper than Maxpower.
Call Dallas or Kristy on 4257 4288

I've heard lots about steve @ Maxpower, they do great work and steve will give out free advice.........
BUT.....
when I rang k + d about a new Metzeler front tyre, they matched steves price (old stock), got me a new tyre and matched steves price(new tyre prce had increased 30bucks!!!) and fitted it free.... something simple but it works for me!!!!
Plus I found out that Dallas was one of my tafe buddies yeeeeears ago....and he loves to have a chat.....
I'll be choosing K+D from now on.:ayyy:
although I do my own servicing and general maintenance

support the guys that support your forum. Take a look at the K&D section of the forum and see what others have to say. If it's good, then use them. Support for support is what it's all about.

Charge like a wounded bull! (quoted me between $4-500 for 20000 service to Triumph Sprint- on pick up- $800! No real reason that the could tell me!)
Dalls and Kristy- great to deal with- fair pricing- ring and discuss if need anything else! Top people:ayyy:

I personaly wouldnt go there, every time I step in there they make me feel like I'm imposing on them. The service guys also dont seem to helpful and they were quoting alot just to do a minor service for an R1.

Pretty well summed up, nice guy who runs sales, and a couple of nice guys behind the ocunter (opps, 'Counter') but if you go in there its always like a half hour wait for them to get their shit together, and often the wait ends up with you having to come back cause the wrong part arrives or whatever. As nice as they are I'm sick of the problems so I go to Maxpower now.

Did you actually read the responses?
We don't say a place is good just for the sake of saying it.
Dallas will know doubt look after you.
He also goes that extra mile for you.
Eg. I purchased a new tyre from him. $220 for the tyre, he fitted the tyre, he lubed and adjusted the chain, cleaned the rim and then after a chat with him about my exhaust he re-aligned it for me. All I paid for was the tyre.
Oh and I also called up 30mins beforehand.
The bike has been back 2 times now for work and I get the exact same service and quick turn around I received the first time.
K&D is the place to go in the Illawarra for service and parts.

WTF - may as well.
When I had the roadie I used Maxpower and found them to be excellent for all things servicing, from their customer service through to advice received from Steve etc. Never had a problem and for them no job was to small, to fiddly or to much of a problem.
But, I live on the south side and getting the bike up there was always a pain and at that point K&D had not opened.
So, when they opened I ended up with a dirt/ADV bike and started taking it their for service.
Same things as I said about Maxpower apply here as well. No job to small, always helpful and friendly and what is more, they will wash the bike (damn, mine got its first wash there :ayyy:).
For me it woudl all depend on where you are located and how important that convenience is for you. If around Bellambi, I would go Maxpower, If south side without hesitation I would go K&D.
IMO, either way you won't go wrong.
Now, with that typed, they are the only places that I would take my bike in the local area as although some good mechanics do exist in the dealers (seriously), unfortunately they are hamstrung by the policies of the shops (ie. pricing etc)
