I think I'm safe to post this!

Went for a ride with my flatmate on his 2001 R1. He has had the bike for a little over a year and the extent of his riding is to Cronulla for a coffee.

He likes to do lots of little power wheelies and doesnt like cornering too much. I found out why.

Riding through the runway tunnel I noticed how dull his bike handled. Pulled into the BP and made him check his pressures....

13 in the front

19 in the rear

No wonder the thing sat up nice for a wheelie and was a tank to turn!!

Poor guy almost dropped it turning back onto general holmes dr, it turned so sharply for him!

I should have him hooked soon on track days....he is booking in for CSS with me soon :ayyy:

There's the problem right there ... clearly, he bought the wrong bike http://www.clipartof.com/images/thumbnail/1926.gif

depends what you want to do i guess.

if you're into endos you'd want higher psi, presumably 30 in the front?

for everything else i think youd be happy in the low 20s, depending on the surface/weather etc.

Belinda you have broken the golden rule of flat mates, you never blab about anything because you have to sleep there.

True, but he thought it was funnier than I did!

You might want to give him a little maintenance course as well or least the 2 minute check of bike prior to leaving home.

My 2 minute check consists of - check oil, tyre pressures, chain and lube.

I think he is taking it to Cycle City at Taren Point for a full service, before he does CSS.

Obviously from a safety point it wasnt funny, just this is his first road bike after years of dirt bikes, and he honestly thought road bikes handled like that :dohsmiley:
