I need to get my hands on some heat-resistant self adhesive tape/foam to go on the inside of my fairing.
Anyone know where I might score some - I only need about a 10cm x 2cm strip.
I have tried Bunnings but to no avail.
Would Repco/Autopro stock something like this?

Anyone bought some before?

Yes, I need some some of that too........I think...

Is it the silver reflective foil your talking about? I need to replace mine, last time I bought it was from Actions and had to wait 4 weeks for it and it was pretty expensive.

Surely we can buy it in sheets and cut it to size??????

I'd try somewhere like Repco, probably a sheet of under-bonnet insulation would do the trick (self adhesive).
This stuff would do it too, but it's expensive: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/DYNAMAT-DYNALINER-11103-ALL-NEW-ultra-light-weight_W0QQitemZ350234116473QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_ Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item518b948179&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Like an aluminium tape? I have half a roll but can't remember where i got it from. I think from Qantas shhhhh. Heatcraft is a wholesaler so if your a tradie you can get it cheaper. Didn't expect my mum's work to get a mention haha.

That's pretty much the stuff I was told to get Captain - it was described as silicone foam to me.
I'll see if I can find some of this first if not I'll take lilninja or Muzz up on the kind offer for some of that silver heat tape :ayyy:

The foil tape (aluminum) from heatcraft isn't made to withstand extreme heat it is simply insulation duct tape. I would think you guys want heat resistant tape for high temps like panels close to exhaust.

Yep it's to go between muffler and lower cowl - so I'll try Repco and Supercheap first up. Any other suggestions?

Roy is right, if you want the stuff that works then ignore supercheap/repco. Google Thermo-tec... they're the worlds best in this stuff.

I just bought the last 2 pieces from RB Racing Taren Point. They had the self adhesive pad version (foil) they use in their race bikes. $13ea. About the same size as the palm of your hand.

Problem with the air cond stuff, it's usually too thick for this purpose ... and yes, not designed for the high temps (although it will probably do the job).
Another option, better suited to high temps is to go to a marine shop (eg whitworths) and buy some engine room liner. But again, it's too thick IMO.

This one sounds like the best, for sure: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Daos-Place-exhaust-muffler-heat-shield-mat-stick-on_W0QQitemZ400064474297QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Moto rcycle_Parts_Accessories?hash=item5d25b36cb9&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

The stuff Ive got is probably a quarter of a mil thick it basicly liiks lik aluminium foil but thicker, with a brown paper backing that you peel off.

How wide is that Damo?
I have to be a bit careful with what I use, got a Arata full system on it and there is bugger all clearence between the mid pipe and the faring, the stock stuff I put on it is starting to cook and the faring has melted, hard to see but it's definately melted. If I put something on that is thick or not rated for the purpose it's likely to ignite.
