So, im following some not so well written instructions to remove my sprockets and install this 520 kit.

I'm having dramas with the front sprocket. Chain is off, rear wheel is off... I'm trying to loosen the front sprocket with the bike in gear but its slipping the transmission.

Any tricks to getting this bastard off? :)

Thanks!

Impact wrench or put the wheel back on and have someone hold the rear brake.

No impact wrench :(

Yep.. sounds the go with the rear.

Found one bloke used a old socket on one of the front drive teeth, turned it until it caught on the metal housing, then used a standard wrench to remove.. Might give that a go ;) failing that.. rear wheel back on! grr

Grr.. old socket on tooth didnt work. I swear this bolt is damn tight. No way its set at 40ft/lbs

I've removed the old sprocket off the rear wheel.. grr.. back together it goes

Agreed will be a shit of a job without a rattle gun....Mine was an absolute shit....Had to do it with the back wheel on with a metal bar thru the wheel and resting on the swingarm (used rags for protection of course)...

Good luck with it:ayyy:

Ive got no bars, none I can use as a breaker bar either..

Anyone near Marrickville that has a big long 1/2" breaker bar or some impact wrench to get this off?? Please :)

:D REAR BRAKE!!!! See my post above... worst case you can sit on the bike holding the rear brake and undo the front sprocket nut.

Mate, do a search on 600RR.net, it has been asked and answered, ther seems to be a specific way of doing it (and if I understand it, when you do it correctly it's not hard)

Guys, yes the chain is on and the rear brake is on VERY hard. I need more might :P

So, i went to bunnings (next door) and got me a sidchrome big breaker bar (380mm) and 2foot of gal pipe :D

Ill give this a go!

Captain, been there done that. No easy way unless you've got a impact wrench

The breaker bar will fix it(get a helper to stand on the brake). Next prob may be that master link. I don't know if they were serious in the other thread about the nut and bolt link or the hammer method. It's not as easy on the bike as on a bench

The bar through the wheel and the 380mm breaker i brought did the trick. The nut is shot, so rusted up

Fucker it was.
