View Full Version : Texport Leathers
Has anyone had experience with Texport leathers? What do you think?
Im looking on ebay USA at a one pc suit for the track. With our dollar its going to be roughly AU$500 landed. They retail for about US$540 (from the texport site.
Also i cant really try then on so im not quite sure of my size, I was a 42/52 in Dainese but im a 44/54 in teknic so im not quite sure if these Texport ones are slimmer fit or not.
The suits that are normally for my height dont go past my legs. I think most suits seem to be made for skinny ppl with no muscle (and im not massive or anything)
Size 34 waist
173cm tall (5'7.5)
85kgs
Size medium or large in shirts dependent on cut. Those shirts are normally fitted but not tight
Just trying to figure out my size as i think its a good buy but i dont think i can try anywhere before i buy... I was really only looking at $350ish for a decent second hand suit for track but 500 for a new decent one landed is good i think.

IMO a bit of a risk.
I only buy from US what I have tried on here first as the sizes and cuts do vary quite a bit

Brother-in-law has a pair, bought from Frasers when they were the Aussie importer, he paid $1050 about 3-4 years ago. Crash tested them at Wakefield coming on to the straight, they held up pretty well, just some scuff marks, barely noticable with a bit of a polish.

I know its a risk but it could be worth taking if someone has compared or worn texport before.
Or possibly knows of somewhere here to try.

Thats good that they are decent in a stack.
You dont know what size they were and what his leathers may be now, (if he hasnt changed in size). Or what size he was in those compared to other ones?

A 2 piece size 54 from memory, and he is still wearing them, only uses them for the track, he has fancy BMW suit for touring. I reckon they are a just little smaller than my Spidi size 54 but I havn't tried them on. He bought them over the phone and I am pretty sure he figured out the size by trying my suit on, but found them a little tighter when they arrived, although loosened up with wear.

How do you come up with that figure? US 540 is AUD 650 ... plus freight I guess :confused1:
The aussie dollar's good, but not that good.

Yep thats correct
they're US$400 incl shipping on ebay but US$540 from Texport plus shipping
So approx at US$0.80 to AU$1 i estimate at current. Its about AU$500

Ah, cool, I missed the ebay bit. In that case, take care, there's a lot of fake crap out there. If it's genuine, then it sounds like a good buy ... although I know nothing about this brand, although I find the saying "you get what you pay for" is usually on the money :ayyy:

You do get what you pay for but in this case its only so cheap cause of our dollar.
these were sold for 1000+ when they sold out of Aus a few years back

Yes, but my point is, make sure these are the same ones. They have the same name, but do you know and trust the vendor?
I almost bought a Dainese copy.

www.shogai.com.au for the Aussie importer. Simon, who you met Captain has the Texport brand still I think.
He is a member on here (Shogai) pm him if you want some Texport info
EDIT.. just looked on his site, they are not listed but PM him(or email him through his website - say Belinda sent you) anyway, he might still have some stock that would be at a very good price

No idea Azza.
Mate, I probably would have bought the fake Dainese, to someone like me with little knowledge of leathers and fabrics, it's hard to tell the difference.
Fortunately, the vendor's "story" sounded odd, so just before meeting him I went past a bike shop, and had a real close look at the Dainese, particularly the insides (stitching, lining etc). With something to compare with fresh in my mind, it was clear as day ... but otherwise, you find out when you're sliding on the tarmac.
Honestly, I have no idea, it could be a genuine good buy. Hopefully Simon can shed some light on it.
