Just playing devils advocate for a min... bear with me?
Surely Suzuki or some aftermarket company make a specific bike kit for a 1/5th turn throttle? I know it saves a fair few dollars but theres an element of chance of a future problem and when dealing with the throttle its a chance personally I wouldnt take (not to say its def bad, just I wiouldnt risk it, I'll explain why at the end)
But also, since the throttle outer diameter is staying the same, and your using less degrees of rotation and not changing the length of the cables, then what would make you think you have the ability to hit full throttle and not just the throttle stop? Its a question towards the end of that thread (which isnt answered) should be taken seriously.
But if the tube is an increase in diameter (thats not stated), then I understand it can get full throttle, but usually at the price of a heavier throttle turn.
The folk at the 1000RR forum tried this a few years back, all they got for their efforts were occasional sticking throttles when full open, or slow returns. Some reported it worked fine but within weeks it had gone very bad due to bedding in or whatever.
It was due to the increased diameter of the internal circle holding the throttle cable ends, which is entombed in your stock throttle housing (where the cables come in at the bar), what happened is the circle was essentially enlarged to give more pull for less degrees, so the cables sometimes rubbed and binded.. really not good on a throttle cable!
Anyway, just letting you know the R1mod should just be taken with a grain of salt, if you will go ahead with the mod just take a LOT of time doing it and testing clearances. Read this thread (http://www.1000rr.net/vb/showthread.php?t=28689&highlight=throttle+mod)if you dont mind seeing opinions for and opinions on how dangerous it was (starts to get interesting on Page2).

i got a fifth turn throttle for my tl from tlzone. cost me about 30 bux from memory. i actually have a spare one here somewhere, maybe 2. and i read about the r1 throttle tube working on tl's as well. suzuki tended to use the same parts for lots of different bikes!!
anyway dilbee if ya wanna try one of the inserts i have in yours then just lemme know mate. its yours for 20 bux of it fits:D

Hey Dungy
ill take ya up on that and give it a try. Sounds like this one might be a go. Got my worried about what jason said now. Dont want to have a throttle sticking when wide open. Ouch!

Hey Dilbee, it was only cause the 1000rr guys picked the wrong part, if it fits, doesnt rub and others have used it without problem (Dungy) then its all good I'd say... just pop that throttle circle open a few times to check nothings rubbing. (and try to check the throttle bodies to make sure your getting full throttle (use verniers before, change it then check the measurement again)
HRC sell a kit for the 1000rr, can't wait to get that... 1/4 is a pain on the track !

G,Day all
I have done the mod to my K6 gsxr 600 superstock racer, using an 04 R1 throttle tube it fits fine only having to lengthen cables at adjusters a bit, it takes the throttle turn from 1/4 turn (ie 90deg) to 1/6 turn (ie 60deg) does'nt sound like much but just makes it that little bit easier to get WOT and even shifting up, $35 for 2004 R1 throttle tube
cheers:beer:
