I read someone mentioned these as a option to keep scratches and scuffed paint marks from the side of your tank. Plus extra grip, they looked good.
Checked the website US version price was good ranging from $20 to $44 US for my 848, i then contacted the Aust distributor for a AUS price....
$82 dollars......plus shipping
But if we get 5 or more or better still 10 or more here's the deal
Free (registered) postage on 5+ sets, and also deduct 10% from the price on 10+ sets
More info from dealers reply on page 2

Turn over
Overheads
turn over is the biggest problem, the manufacturer probably sells 150 kits per day minimum where the Oz dealer would probably be lucky to sell 50 per week.
Look at it from the same point of view in your profession, and how much they charge for the same service overseas.
Either way, the price is comparable to stomp grips.

I was lookin at getting a set of these for my bike, Possible Group buy from the US dealer?

By all accounts these are very good ... unlike Stomp Grips, which I hate and took off (alhough others have had success with them).

Whats the real difference between High Fusion and Snake skin.
I'm getting rid of the Stompgrips as they are ripping my leathers, so I don't want something too "sharp".

29-05-2009, 05:14 PM
Cap, getting from Aus vendor definitely. Thanks
Here is the replay about a group buy, guy sounds tops to deal with and a great sense of humour too...Looks like a good deal to me.
Hi Adam,
Yes certainly, we can do free (registered) postage on 5+ sets, and also deduct 10% from the price on 10+ sets.
I hope that is acceptable, I wouldn't want you to feel you were being "raped and ripped off" .
Just kidding mate, I read a lot of forums for product feedback..........and I saw you removed that portion of your post, which is appreciated.
Let me know what you can arrange with the guys. I am happy to do individual payments also, so you don't have to worry about collecting cash from everyone.
Cheers,

I recently bought mine from Madaz in Victoria.
I'm up for another set, the first ones are stuck like glue to the tank!!! and I'm about to change the tank.
Snakeskin is the texture that most people have

... at one point there seemed to be an adhesive problem with the fusion, probably not an issue now... Mark?
I'm a definate, esp since the postage was waved or maybe even a discount... excellent!

I have seen 2 different versions of the Ice Grip, but perhaps the 'black' version was just the clear grip on a black tank :confused1:
Hard to describe, imagine a patchwork of hexagonal sections, each like its been 'brushed' in a different direction.
Seems to only be available in the US.
I cant find a photo anywhere :cursing:

Guys, I ordered some of the snakeskin type for my K4 Gixxer 600 from the Aus distributor (cannot remember what I paid) and he was good to deal with and the goods arrived promptly. The "reusable" glue turned out not to be the case however (it didn't stick to my tank at all well and before you ask yes the surface was immaculately cleaned as per instructions). Didn't fuss me tho' I just used some rubber glue "Fulaprene 303" for the job as I'm not planning on removing them any time soon. Have used them for several months now on both multi-day road rides up north (when I got absolutely pissed on and began to think that Noah may have had a point) and down the snowies plus 4 (I think) track days and my leathers don't seem the worse for wear. I would recommend them, and the glue story may have been my mistake somehow in taking the backing off :dohsmiley:

Just a question, did you preheat tank & grip (hair dryer) , this is very important to do.
I just put some on my CBR & they are stuck there like there molded onto tank, there never coming off.

No I didn't and don't remember being told to. They are supposed to be "reusable/resealable" with a "unique" glue according to the marketing blurb so if yours aren't coming off then I'm guessing they won't be reusable/resealable either (like mine are now haha)
Belinda
29-05-2009, 10:37 PM
When you buy them now they have crossed out the part which states they are reusable........which really sucks for me.
I have tried peeling mine off and they are not moving. I used a hairdryer on both tank and grip pad when installing.
Also mine came with the centre tank protector included for $82. I have the snakeskin and as soon as I bought it I was wishing I had have bought the high fusion, but then I am prone to changing my mind on the little things!
I just think that the fusion would give better grip but, even though its stated somewhere that the fusion is more gentle on leathers, it looks like sand paper :confused1:

They may have had a rethink on that as the fitting instructions now say heat tank. Also when you leave your bike in sun summer don't you think same effect.

We already have the 10 - Seals and Pymm have both ordered two sets.
I will speak with the vendor again as we can all place individual orders so it makes it 10x easier than collecting monies. So choice of style is up to you when it comes to ordering.
Some more info on the 2 styles
The high fusion is a much thinner and grippier patch yet still soft rubber so in no way abrasive to leather etc.
Here are some clear pics of the high fusion.
I am looking at going for the high fusion but in a sheet to cut to my own liking and placement.

Any idea on what the drawback is to the High Fusion? i.e. wont last as long? Seems everyone would go with thinner and grippier but most people go with the snakeskin, wondering why... any thoughts?

I'm am guessing that in some pics it looks like sand paper and very abrasive.
Mark might be able to chime in with some more info on each style before we all order.
Here's also a updated email response. All i can say is excellent customer service and more Aust dealers need to take a leaf from his book.
Hi Adam,
That's great!
The 'general sheets' are $62 in SnakeSkin and $59 in High Fusion. The same deal will apply to these sets also.
Yes send me a list and once the 10 people have ordered and provided payment details I can amend the price accordingly for you. They can contact me on ph-0417 598 708 directly, on email at info@techspec-aus.com.au or via Pm on the forum.
No need to wait, once ten have ordered, what I will do is I will hold this deal until the end of the month for anyone else on the forum that would like to take it up. They will just need to contact me via PM so I know they are from the forum.

Hi Guys,
I am Mark from TechSpec!
I don't like chiming in with a first post when selling something, but there seems to be some questions I can help with.
-IceGrip is available, but only in a 'General Sheet', it is $59.
-The adhesive is NOT reusable as the problem we had previously was in making the adhesive reusable, it did not stick very well to the tank. We decided it was better to have it stick properly than to have it be reusable.
-Since I have been importing TechSpec, the instructions have always said that it must be applied to a warm tank for best adhesion.
-Snakeskin offers slightly more grip than High Fusion and Ice Grip. I usually recommend SnakeSkin for track/Race bikes and HF or IG for purely road duty.
Also, due to a recent increase in material cost, coupled with continued requests for the side pieces without the centre tank protector, TechSpec USA decided to omit the centre tank protector from the kits and keep the price as it was, rather than increase the price of the kits. What this means is that We have some stock with the centre tank protector included and some without.
If you specifically want the centre tank protector, those kits are 'first in' gets them. If you don't want it, let me know and I will save the kits with it included for someone who wants it.
Looking to do EC ride days on the 24,25 & 26th of July, maybe I can meet some of you guys in person?
Cheers,
Mark

Wear isnt really an issue, mine are wearing (nearly all gone in some places) but I guess thats what happens when they are working. Its been on for nearly 2 years and you cant really tell unless your looking for it. They all wear, stomps as well.
There is a slight difference in grip between thick and thin. Not that noticable but you feel a little more secured with the thicker stuff and its only really noticable at a fast pace or when your hard on the brakes. Not that noticable on the street. The track bike doesnt have anything and its been mostly fine, im going to give stomps a try just for the fuck of it.
