my PDS states in the event that the bike is over 2 years old that they will use NEW or RECONDITIONED OEM parts.
the bike is 3 years old and there wanting to repair the fairings ( repaint )
should i tell them to get fucked?

ask another bike shop for a quote for NEW fairings.. then compare it to the quote to repaint... if it's cheaper to buy new then it's a no brainer.. if the cost diff is little then argue might get you through it.. you got a copy of the quote you can scan in?

id preffer not to scan and post up the quotes they are excessively high
if i remove all the items im not really chasing it is about $3700 vs the $6100 they quoted.
i have to wait till i goto this other joint on friday to get a quote on repaint + repair of wheels etc

Get the cash for a repaint or push for a settlement on a percentage on new fairings, go buy some Chinese chepos already painted of ebay for $500??

Those chinese ones are crappy quality though Mr848... if you like quality you'd be quickly dissapointed, if you're ok with .. Kwality then.. ok.

Oggy bought some chinese fairings from memory, and they look just fine. I don't know re repairing vs replacement, it's pretty nornal for car bodies to be repaired, and they look fine. But bikes, given the thin fairings it's not like they can fill it with bog ...
The problem being, if that's what's written in the PDS I don't really know how you can tell them to 'get fucked' :confused1:

the set that i want and he is selling is $1065 i can get it delivered for $630 AU
basically my worry is that the paint will not be the same tone/color and if they touchup the paintwork its going to not blend in hence why i opted for originals
im going to go back to the bike shop i got the original quotes from and get them to re quote on what i request this time and get it done through them and push the insurance company to approve the repairs.
if i can get it to the 3k mark the assesor will be happy as thats what he said he believed the repairs to be worth

it is only the mid fairing + side surrounding fairing that needs to be replaced
$500 im happy for those to get replaced and the wheels replaced
ill ring the assesor tomorrow and have a talk to him regarding what he thinks a fair price is and if i get the price to what he thinks is fair and i think is fair maybe we can strike a deal
Mate I'm having the same dillema, unfortunatey a friend of mine had a small stack on my bike and it's now getting repaired...
When I spoke to the reparier last week he said that all parts are going to be replaced with new parts,,,
Insurance company gave authority to repair on Monday, I asked the insurance company for a copy of the repair quote today,,,According to the quote the reparier has decided that he will fix and paint three panels which he did not tell me about,,,
Not sure wether to kick up a stink about it,,, I'm not too happy about repair and paint jobs as I would like to keep the bike as original as possible...
