just watching news story about limiters in car trial. i maybe a bit slow ( don't comment on that :lmao: ) the developer of this magic technology claims 17% of all road accidents are speed related and 38% of all acco's are fatal. that says to me you are safer to have a speed related accident given 62% of all fatal accidents are non speed related :mod_smilie_rockwoot. what are they doing about non speed related fatalities?:n:

Also if its just a simple limiter, nothing will stop u speeding anywhere shy of a 110kmh zone. And i'd guess freeways are the least contributing towards the stats. If its a gps limiter and u have to do the speed everywhere or they can see exactly how long u were speeding for and penalise u accordingly then trackdays will become even more populated.

It works by attaching to the GPS unit which knows the local speed limit and restricting fuel flow accordingly, costs about $1000

Surely bikes will be exempt if they do bring it in, can't b hitting a limiter while cranked over.
i remember ACA doing a piece a few years back (maybe 5 yrs?) regarding some uni student who had made software that monitored a GPS unit and the speedo of the car and it would record of all the times it thought you were speeding.
i think that anything that is monitoring your direct speed, or even restricting it (in the case of a limiter) starts heading towards a 'big brother gone mad' kind of scenario.
aren't they doing something with one of the motorways along the lines of;
pass checkpoint A at 1 minute, if you pass checkpoint B within 'X' timeframe you must have been speeding, and here's your ticket.
can anyone elaborate??

that's ok, because when you go into a tunnel and loose the GPS signal, your are will come to a stop...
The technology has been around for years, just not feasible to implement it as policy.
That point to point motorways thingo was just an email hoax, but once again the tech is there, they all ready do it with trucks.
The Nullaboar speed limits used to be unlimited and some people died, so the lowered it to 130km/h, and people kept dying, so it's now 110km/h and a few people died so now they want to lower it to 90km/h. So Darwin to Alice (1498km's) will now take a little more than a year but but you'll be back in time to get the speeding ticket from your mail box.
I don't understand why the cops are being held responsible for the road toll? Surely the RTA (road condition and licence qualifications) and the actual road users should be held accountable?

Agreed. Bad roads and so many terrible drivers that have accidents or cause accidents. People speed and take risks to pass them out of shear frustration.

I am keeping my old bikes now for sure!!!!!

you know if they speed limit cars bikes all vehicles for that matter via gps so you can never speed for the zone your in 40,50,60,70 80,90,100,110kmh
no-one will ever get a speeding ticket, no police to patrol our roads-we wont be needing them-
just think of all the revenue they will lose through speeding tickets!!!...
do you really think they will let that happen.... really!
