Might be a stupid question but I'll ask anywayz. When buying a track bike is there any other paper work/ proof of ownership papers that I should have, seeing that the bikes not registered, apart from ringing revs to check on it, is there anything else I should be asking apart for receipt of purchase?

Receipt would be good, but I don't think you have to have anything... it's a Possession thing isn't it (ownership).

Make sure you do frame/engine number check to make sure bike isn't stolen which allot of people have been caught out with when random inspection by police at track. They just take your bike your not allowed to take anything off it as taken on the spot. You or previous owner mightn't even know it was stolen & can be just the frame or engine.

Just out of interest, who would you check with? REVS? Police? REVS is for encumbered vehicles, police have always proven next to useless for all but emergencies ...

..on the REVs site they say this:
http://www.revs.nsw.gov.au/about/faq.htm
Other information
There may be other advisory information recorded about a vehicle or boat. This includes –
* Vehicles reported as stolen from NSW, Vic, SA and Qld
but the keywords being "MAY" and "ADVISORY"... doubt it'd hold up in court... good question Cap.
